Dear Wendy
Dear Wendy

A Christmas Miracle!

The site is fixed! Everything was saved! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Lunarpages, who is my new hosting company, for successfully migrating my site.

We now return to previously scheduled programming. Everything from the last two days has been deleted forever — I deleted Wednesday’s 652-comment thread as promised, and yesyerday’s 420+-comment thread was deleted during the site migration; if you weren’t around for these posts, you missed out! — and we are Moving On Already. Hallelujah.

Yayyyyyyy!!!! But Wendy, love… Please get some sleep and do a little less worrying. 🙂 You either posted this incredibly late or incredibly early, or somewhere in between sleeping. I hope this new hosting company allows you to enjoy your holidays without losing sleep.

It’s not the website that’s making me lose sleep; it’s having a newborn baby!! I wish the new hosting company could make Jackson sleep through the night. They’re good, but not THAT good.

Hopefully he´ll start sleeping better soon. My girls both did the opposite, slept through the night until about 5 months, from then on terrible sleepers. My eldest is 4 and just now she´s sleeping a bit better.

My mother loves to tell this story: My twin sister and I were not sleeping through the night and driving both my parents crazy. They took us to our 12 week checkup, which back in the 80’s (and maybe now ?) involved a lot of vaccinations. We both fell asleep in the back of the car and continued to sleep that evening and we both slept through the whole evening. My parents however, didn’t get any sleep that night because they kept checking to make sure we were still alive. We were and after that checkup we always slept through the night. My brother on the other hand didn’t sleep through the night until he was five! Hopefully Jackson is more like me!

My daughters were decent sleepers but my first grandchild is a boy. He’s 3 1/2 now and it seems from our experience with him and his male peers that boys are not as successful at sleeping through the night as girl babies. I know it’s a huge generalization but knowing you’re not alone might help. Or not.

It does get better. Eventually. Max is still not the best sleeper, but we adore him anyway.

Teach Miles and Simone to hypnotize Jackson like this cat does with a fussy baby:

Speaking of Miles, I’d love to hear his thoughts on Jackson… 🙂

Glad to hear things are looking up. These open threads WERE pretty fun the past couple days… And a bonus is that I’ll bet we gave you some ideas for articles/open threads! I, for one, would LOVE to see an open thread dedicated to book recommendations. 🙂

Wait, wait, wait. Before all this talk of Christmas Miracles gets out of hand, I just have one question:

    Aren’t you Jewish? 😉
