Dear Wendy Meetup: Chicago

Chicago DWers are having their, like, 50th meetup this weekend and I was asked to share the details for anyone who may be interested in joining the fun. From Addie Pray:

Date: Saturday, June 2nd
Time: Noon
Where: Moonshine, 1824 W. Division St., in Wicker Park

Let me know here (or in the Chicago thread) if you plan to come so I can make sure we have a big enough table at Moonshine! Reservations under Addie Pray, btw.

Extra perk, besides meeting all the fun Chicago dearwendiers? The Do Division will be happening, which is a really happening street fest, with lots of bands, sales, food and booze, and good people watching. … Summers in Chicago rule all.

It’s true, summers in Chicago do rule all. Have fun, everyone!

      Oh and SherBear?

And Call-me-Hobo? (Btw, whenever I see your DW name I think of Call Me Maybe — I’m looking forward for when this shitty song gets out of my head — and you guys probably are too).

(I don’t think that was the sage advice you were looking for, but I’d argue it was SAGER.)

Ooo I like cheese. Actually, an excellent time to come to Madison is during Taste of Madison. Lots of yummy food and good music. I’ll start looking around to see if there is anything that might drag you people up here before then (that’s around Labor Day-ish).

When I was in Lake Geneva, Wisc on Saturday, I ate “white nuggets” – I was kind of afraid to ask what that was. Turned out, they were fried cheese curds. I dipped them in cheese sauce. Cheese on cheese is brilliant.

I’m thinking maybe Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha (its the pretty much as close to Chicago as you can get without leaving WI). I have family there, so I can camp out overnight and not have to worry about driving back. Keep your eyes open on the forum for dates/time proposals in the near future šŸ™‚

yessssss. i would ask if we could bring SO’s (mine is a chef = he loves cheese) but he is from vermont and so he hates wisconsin cheese lol… ill just tell him its a winery or something… then eat everything on the way home so there is no evidence… haha

Crazy Vermont people and their hatred of the BEST cheese ever. Its just like those commercials that try to say California has better cheese than us. Don’t they know we’re the Dairyland?

haha. i maintain that cheese from anywhere in the country is fantastic if its well made cheese.

but seriously, vermont people are weird. he will only buy vermont cheese if we are getting nice cheeses, only vermont maple syrup, he goes on and on about creamys… and everyone else who i have met from vermont is the same way. its like a little cult or something.. lol

It’s goin’. We’re all moved in to our new place (well, one side of it). In about a month, my mom will be moving to her side of our new duplex. He’s not home yet, but will be in October (yay!!), so there is an end in sight now. It will be weird to have him home, but it will be great. Mostly I just keep busy with obnoxious work hours and fill every possible minute of my day, which is why my mom and I are going for a massage together – we both need to relax.

If I hope you show up hard enough, maybe you’ll just show up! I like to try to “will” things that way. It usually doesn’t work. Like, if I’m worried it’s going to rain, I do NOT bring an umbrella to try to will it not to rain. I do the same thing with my periods. I purposefully do not carry tampons, to try to will my period away.

      It. Never. Works.

Sorry if that was too much information. I probably could have just said “sure, we’ll Skype you in, Bethany!”

I got a new iphone yesterday and can “facetime” now!
