@Buttoned….I thought I was the only one allergic to that stuff as well! Yes, it does burn, sometimes for days. I”m sorry you’ll have to go through it when you decide to have children. It totally sucks!
And the condom debate…I could always tell when my husband would wear one. I don’t like them but would use them before i got married. And a lot of guys I dated tried to convince me that I wouldn’t get pregnant if only they would not have to wear a condom. I was like – pregnancy is NOT the worse thing that could happen…I mean they didn’t even ask or think about STD’s. I did not understand this.
June 27, 2012 at 4:46 pm #32037now that i’m scanning the rest.. is it a real allergy to semen? is it possible it’s the ph balance from what he’s been eating? with my first husband, i broke out in a rash if it got on my skin – he drank like 4 gallons of milk a week, which i figure makes him extremely basic (sounds good in my mind anyway, no science back up there) current one? no rash at all. however, in a reverse situation, about 1 week out of a month, i apparently go through a phase where i’m even more acidic than normal and it makes him feel like his skin is melting off if it hits any sensitive skin (which of course it does). awesome eh?
June 27, 2012 at 4:49 pm #32040I’m on Alesse and have been for about 3 years with no side effects. My boyfriend and I always use condoms too because there is no way I am having a baby right now (or, 10 months from now)! Better safe than sorry.
June 27, 2012 at 5:12 pm #32048@GatorGirl, girl I feel yah. But I’m glad you guys have discussed the little risk and are ok with it! My boyfriend and I are still in college. Poor. And NOT thinking of a child in the next 5-7 years. We haven’t even discussed puttin’ a ring on it, so baby must not be here.
@Michelle.Lea, you know, I’m not really sure.. I just chalk it up to that because we’re both STD free and that’s the only explanation for me. I’ve also not had any other partners, so I have no point of comparison (._.) I’ve never actually tested for the allergy though. It could be his acidity! I heard if you drink plenty of water before (and during, but how does that work?!) sex, it’ll lessen the burning. But I don’t think he’d be chugging that much water before we do anything, since it’s halfway spontaneous.
There was this one time the burning was AWFUL, and that was a night full of drinking. Perhaps it was the beer. Other than that, not sure what’s making it so acidic in his diet.. Or if I’m just allergic.
June 27, 2012 at 5:40 pm #32058guys should be on the basic side (alkaline), girls on the acidic side.. but too much of either would burn :/ i only have the 2 guys to compare heh!
in a random aside, i’ve also attributed the fact that i’ve never gotten pregnant while on the pill (because let’s be honest, it’s not always perfect) because i’m very very acidic and just kill anything on the way in. gruesome. course it’s all just speculation. makes me want to get a ph kit though lol
June 28, 2012 at 9:39 am #32101@Michelle that is fascinating about ph levels! My boyfriend and I have been talking about ph levels recently but I knew nothing. You’re making me want to do some research!
June 28, 2012 at 10:10 am #32102@Michelle.Lea I’m glad to hear this is a thing– when my boyfriend & I first started sleeping together, he got a horrible looking, spotty, blister-y rash on his dick (sorry for the visual). We panicked & got full bloodwork, & since everything was fine, we just joked that I must be, uh, really acidic. This doesn’t happen anymore, so I figured his skin got used to it? (is that possibile?)
