I am not drinking again until July 27th. It has to happen. I am hungover again. I feel like death. Luckily I’m starting work again tomorrow and starting an LLM program so I should be super busy and not have as much free time. It will be kind of tricky though because I have two weekend trips to Vail planned this month, but I’m sticking to it. I have confessed to all of you, so you have to hold me to it. I am going to yoga tomorrow morning too. Every time I get really into working out drinking loses its appeal anyway.
June 11, 2012 at 7:00 pm #29516Wow, thats a long time. You are braver than I am. I am also in the midst of detoxing. For a week. I woke up SO hungover on Friday and work sucked, plus my face felt SO fat. But this sat is the solstice parade so i wanna drink and party for that naked bicyclists watching endeavor. One HAS to be drunk to watch naked painted bicyclists.
June 11, 2012 at 7:04 pm #29517That is true. Since I made this post I have had 3 requests for happy hour. I need new friends until July 27th too I think.
June 11, 2012 at 7:32 pm #29519Um, way to ruin DW Denver day drinking :p
June 12, 2012 at 7:27 am #29546My birthday is the weekend, but I am detoxing after that. I went out last night and in less than three hours had: a Jager shot, scooby snack, some red shot, a buttery nipple, 2 glasses of Jager and Dr. Pepper, one rum based you call it, and two other shots. I have never been drunk on a weekday…so yeah…I need to slow down.
Also gave my number to both bartenders at both places. Only got charged for one shot and the 2 Jager and Dr. Pepper’s….so at least I saved money?
June 12, 2012 at 7:31 am #29547yulch, i feel drunk thinking about all that, kare! … and now i could use a breakfast burrito!
June 12, 2012 at 7:38 am #29550i’m going to detox too. but i need to mostly cut back on pizza – i have been eating pizza every day it seems.
June 12, 2012 at 7:40 am #29551Ooooh…I could use one too! I don’t feel drunk anymore, but I’m glad I live within walking distance of my job. And one of the cute bartenders that gave me free shots texted me. 1 out of 2 isn’t bad, right? Overall I think the night was a success.
June 12, 2012 at 8:36 am #29557I feel you on this– I’m doing a 3-day juice cleanse next week (I know, I know, they’re a total gimmick, but for some reason I was moved to drop an unholy amount of $$ on some blended plants. Gah.) But anyway, you’re not supposed to drinking alcohol the week leading up to it, or a few days after? I figured it’s a good way to say “no” to myself!
June 12, 2012 at 8:37 am #29558*not supposed to DRINK, not “drinking”
June 12, 2012 at 9:26 am #29563I’m feeling much better today. This is a good start. I’m going to yoga in two hours too, so that should get the rest of the booze out of my system. I’m feeling really guilty for missing one of my classes last night – I mean it’s the first day and I can’t stick it out? God I really need to make friends in this new program or I’m going to be screwed. Nerdy boys watch out, imma find you.
June 12, 2012 at 9:40 am #29565I did a 2 week detox in February. It was good – I saved some money and felt better about my life choices in general.
June 12, 2012 at 10:03 am #29568I am not drinking until……….Friday. OK, so that’s not very impressive. BUT! I’m not going to overdo it on Friday either.
Also, I worked out this morning. Yay?
My knees are terrible. I think I ruined them. What workouts can I do at home that won’t kill them? Addie? You have knee problems, right?
June 12, 2012 at 10:17 am #29575@CatsMeow: What kind of knee problems are you experiencing? Usually it’s from putting too much weight on them or not stretching enough. I have knee problems from time to time from mountain biking. Mine come from pedaling in too tall of a gear so I’m pushing on the pedals, which causes strain to the knee region.
Try doing some exercises that put less strain on your knees. Much like a stationary bike. If you are jogging or running on a treadmill, your knees will ache. You can do situps where you right elbow touches your left knee and vice versa. If your knees hurt that badly, you need to only do exercises for a couple of weeks that put little weight on your knees.
Also, take fish oil supplements. I started that two weeks ago, because my knees ached so bad that it was painful to walk. They are pretty cheap at your local grocery store and they have done wonders for me. They still ache a little, but only if I had a hard workout and I immediately lay down for 2-3 hours. At that point, my whole body is stiff but my knees are the worse. Also, take a warm bath once or twice a week, or take hotter than normal showers. That will help your knees as well.
June 12, 2012 at 10:50 am #29580It happened from jumping exercises – jumping jacks, jump rope, butt kicks…
Jumping/running hurts the most, as does climbing or descending stairs. It’s mostly one knee, but the other one is slightly achy/creaky too. My right one aches most of the time, and sometimes I feel like it won’t support me. It hurts to sit too long. And at the end of the day, I can barely walk. The pain is deep inside – I feel it both in the front and the back. There’s no swelling. My google diagnosis is “patellofemoral pain syndrome.”
I always start with a warmup and end with a stretch, and wear good shoes, and ice it after…. and modified everything so there is NO jumping from now on. But I still do squats and lunges and things of that nature.
