Alright guys I’m in a league this year and I need some help on some positions. Or mostly I just want to discuss football and this is my shameless way of bringing it up. If anyone knows if any of these players make bad fantasy players (like good but not based on fantasy scoring) let me know! Also if anyone knows of injuries or anything that’s also information I would love to know. This is what I’m thinking so far – assuming they don’t get scooped up before my turn:
Quarterback – Mark Sanchez or Eli Manning or Michael Vick
Receivers – Eric Decker (duh), Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall, Miles Austin
Running back – Roy Helu, Willis McGahee
TE – Tony Gonzalez, Tony Scheffler
Kicker – Alex Henery
Defense – Jets or Green BayThings to keep in mind about my decisions:
I am a bronco’s fan so there are just certain players/teams I could never pick. I mean if they’re in the bronco’s division I am going to try to avoid them so that I don’t have to cheer against the broncos. Also there are certain people I just can’t cheer for for personal reasons. Like Tom Brady. And Ben Rapelisberger. Those are just the ones off the top of my head – I’m sure there are other people I hate.“It’s the most wonderfuuuuul time of the year”. No, I’m not talking about Christmas people, I’m talking about football season.
August 9, 2012 at 10:55 pm #36333Um, huh?
August 9, 2012 at 10:56 pm #36334Honestly – and this may be crazy – but the truth is missionary is my favorite position.
(That’s what you were asking, right?)
August 9, 2012 at 10:57 pm #36335But I’m not going to help you on that.
August 9, 2012 at 10:58 pm #36336I dunno, I read “football” and my mind went to the shitter. I’m going to bed. Today was a good day.
August 9, 2012 at 11:28 pm #36338I’m league manager of two leagues. I desperately need to start mock drafting!
August 9, 2012 at 11:53 pm #36339Addie Millicent pray do not ruin this for me!
Mg – I need to get my shiz figured out. I want a plan A, B, and C. I’ve accidentally already started talking shit so now there’s pressure to back it up.
August 10, 2012 at 12:17 am #36340Defensewise, hopefully you get the Packers over the Jets. They screwed me last year because sometimes theyre extremely stingy but then they have times were they let QBs pass way too much and I’d lose that week. Also, I could be wrong, but Helu is on the Redskins right? If he’s who I think he is, I wouldnt go with him, because right now hes battling for starting position with Evan Royster, who’s a solid runner and blocker, so they will be splitting carries, which will lower his points for you.
August 10, 2012 at 12:42 am #36341Eh, my fantasy football would be for the league to simply cease to exist…
August 10, 2012 at 1:02 am #36342Mark Sanchez?! He’s hot, but weren’t they talking about putting him on 2nd string at the end of last year? Plus, the Jets have Tebow now, so I’m guessing they’ll probably play them both half and half?
August 10, 2012 at 8:30 am #36348Football!!!!!
I don’t play in a Fantasy Football league so I probably wouldn’t be much help, but I’ll talk football all day long!
Bills fan, btw
August 10, 2012 at 8:49 am #36350SO I doubt you’ll get all of those…but due to Vick’s play style I would hands down pick him if you get him…depending on your leagues scoring.
Aren’t Dez and Miles both on the cowboys still? (I went to high school with Miles’ ex-fiance btw, hahaha) Marshall I found to be disappointing 90% of weeks…
I would not pick Sanchez. I’m a Giants fan – Eli is reliable most weeks but not like a “zomg” major fantasy point scorer..
I’d shoot for Green Bay Defense, Gonzalez for main TE, and I know McGahee would be a good pick…never heard of the other guy? Chances are you’ll end up with 2 of these players though, haha, so better get some more picks lined up.
August 10, 2012 at 9:17 am #36355You’re right – I knew Sanchez was a bad pick but sometimes I just can’t contain myself around those eyes. (Yes – I occasionally make my fantasy picks based off of looks – this is my fantasy right?!?!)
Something More – I would love to just talk about football in general – I just didn’t know how to bring it up without a purpose. So share your thoughts! How do you feel about the female referee? Do you also think the bronco’s were idiots for spending $90 million on a guy that’s going to need hip surgery in a year due to old age? And they gave up tebow time!! I went to 3 home games last year – and yeah he’s a shitty passer – but homeboy had heart! He wanted it. He didn’t treat it like a job or a just a paycheck. One reason I’m a bigger college fan than NFL is for that exact reason – a lot of the NFL guys don’t even seem to care if they win or lose because they still get payed right? I actually might have to start a college thread too.
Budj – who do you think is a good receiver? I only picked Marshall because him and Cutler played together at Denver so I figured they’d have good chemistry and maybe Cutler would throw him a bone more often. I think in the past other quarterbacks just didn’t like Marshall – because every time they actually did throw it to him he would catch it. And Miles was a looks pick.
Mandalee – Helu is a Redskin – he played at Nebraska which is where that pick came from. But I didn’t know he was battling it out. Good to know. I’ll have to wait and see how that plays out.
Does anyone know of any other good running backs? I can’t pick reggie because he’s so unreliable. I want someone in that position that is just a workhorse. So I guess which team uses a more running offense? Bronco’s obviously did last year but… I don’t know if the Jets will since they are still planning on starting Sanchez (right?)
August 10, 2012 at 9:21 am #36357I second the “dont pick sanchez.” Also, if you end up getting a late pick, Eli’s not a BAD pick, but don’t waste #1 or #2 on him
August 10, 2012 at 9:23 am #36358I’d definitely go Vick. I had Mark Sanchez last year, and I finished near the bottom after almost winning the previous year. My husband had Vick, and he could’ve won the whole thing if he’d been more active in trading/updating his roster to account for byes/injuries.
I’d go Green Bay for defense (but the Steelers have generally been good to me as well).
Decker, yes. Miles Austin, yes.
I switch kickers every week it seems, so I really have no feedback there.
