oh and AP there was some caveat in those laws that if the person buying the foreclosed house is using it as their primary residence you do have to leave immediately.
i dunno it just seemed to depend on the bank and how fast they could sell the place. hopefully because the townhouse right across from us is also for sale they wouldnt have much luck? yes? lolJune 23, 2012 at 3:27 pm #31312
Wow, that situation is awful Katie! Unfortunately, I have heard of such things happening. It really sucks moving from one rental place to another. It’s not even exciting moving into a new place because it’s still not your place, just another little space to borrow for a shitload of money per month. I really hope if you do have to move out of your house, your landlord at least gives you back your deposit without having to take him to court. When I move out of here, I almost expect to have to take mine to small claims court to get my $500 back. And I will if that’s what it takes.June 23, 2012 at 4:00 pm #31315
Wow, Katie, that’s awful! I know some friends who had to move out of a house because it was sold, but the landlord was straight with them about it and gave them plenty of notice.June 23, 2012 at 6:16 pm #31318
ok, hopefully crisis averted… he came over today to get those notices, and he said that he had a payment dispute with citi mortgage because they took two payments from him in one month, so thats probably why they came to the house… i guess. and then he said he has no idea why they court people came to find him, he said everything is fine with his mortgage, he isnt getting foreclosed on, and he hasnt done anything wrong to anyone as far as he knows so… hopefully everything is ok. at the very least, i emailed my real estate agent last night and so he knows about what happened..June 25, 2012 at 2:53 pm #31555
I just wanted to say that I bought my own house 3 years ago, I am 29 and I love it! Yes trust me I have had those days when everything seems to break and I thought I was going to go broke-but it’s mine. If I want to paint my walls black- I can!…lol I won’t but I can. I no longer am paying someone else to let me live but investing in myself and my own future. If I have a problem with the house, say a pipe or something I usually google and youtube the issue and if I think I can fix it, I will try! You will be amazed what you can do yourself! I usually go to home depot and they will explain and help me out- how to do projects and tell me exactly what tools are needed! Last summer I ripped up all the carpet in the house and refinished all the hardwood floors! This summers project is to redo the kitchen-myself- here I go to IKEA! FYI I will also be getting the roof re-done but I am paying someone to do that job 100%.July 3, 2012 at 3:25 pm #32795
I’m late to the boat but Cleveland State has a law school with a clinic available: https://www.law.csuohio.edu/academics/clinics
Generally it’s students doing the research under the supervision of a professor but they could probably help you get started in the right direction. One of my friends used to work there when she was a student.
Case Western also has a law school but I don’t know of a clinic there.
