So I know I’m all over the forums today and y’all are probably sick of me – but deal with it. What are your favorite apps? I now have an iphone and ipad, and I definitely need some help. Here are things I’m looking to get out of both of them:

    Cool picture taking/editting apps
School related apps for the ipad – maybe note taking ones?
General apps to make my life better
A good reminder/calendar one – I don’t like the standard one that comes with the ipad
Is there a microsoft word or similar one for the ipad?

List any others that will make my life better that I probably don’t even know I need yet.

    Ready – Go!

I use QuickOffice (in conjunction with a wireless keyboard) for taking notes during class, and DropBox to coordinate my documents between iPad and computer. Wolfram Alpha has also saved my ass in chemistry and math classes.
I use iPeriod to track all that stuff and I’d be absolutely lost without my iCalendar which I can access from my phone and laptop. I’m also really fond of iBooks.

Also, Plants vs. Zombies. That is all.

Oh I totally bought a wireless keyboard. Now I’m happy about that.

What about sports apps? Anyone know of good (free) ones? I got a $50 gift certificate for some back to school special so I don’t need these to be free – but I want to save most of that for necessities.

I love my GPS navigation app since I don’t actually own a GPS. I also love Ulysse speedometer because my car’s dash lights don’t work and I can’t see what my actual speedometer says at night. It has an HUD button that flips the image of your speed around backwards so you just put your phone on your dashboard and it reflects your speed up into the windshield.

When it comes to boredom/recreation, Angry Birds and Facebook Messenger.

I only have an iPod touch so I can’t help with iPad specific apps. Evernote gets mentioned a lot though as a note taking app. Anyway!

Picture apps: Instagram (applies those cool vintage filters on photos/good for sharing on Facebook), Line camera (lots of cutesy effects, like stickers and stamps and cute borders)

School related: InClass (good for notes and scheduling), Grades 2 (I use this to track my progress in class and what I need to score on my assignments to get an A)

General Apps: Etsy, Pinterest, Bank of America, Period Diary, Sleep Pillow Ambiance (helps me fall asleep), C25K (if you’re doing to the couch to 5k program, this app rocks), The Weather Channel (way better than the default weather app), Kindle, Realtor.com (I like to browse houses for fun), Yelp

News: NPR, USA Today, CNN… New York Times is really good but costs $$$ (it used to be free /sigh ), Pulse News is a customizable news feed

As for games, it depends on your preference. I like Tiny Towers, Angry Birds, Tiny Wings. Those are games you can come back to whenever and enjoy and not have to depend on others to respond to your move.

PocketBooth is a fun photo app. I also love the CrimeReports app since I like to know what is going down around me. USA Today has a super easy to read news app. Oh and Pinterest for your phone. great time killer.

And Instagram of course. And FaceBook.
