    Well this is some bad news.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/06/06/us-gonorrhoea-who-idUSBRE8550G920120606

    Articles like this are a great reminder to be careful who you sleep with and to always use protection.

    What are you saying, Brad, you have gonorrhoea?

    I saw that, and it was enough to kill the small bit of my libido that was just starting to reawaken. I think I’m going with celibacy for awhile because every guy out there who hits on me might have incurable gonorrhea!

    Not at all Addie, I’m very conservative about my health (and with maybe the execption of the occasional binge drinking and going skydiving) and I don’t take many risks. I’ve never had a 1 night stand/casual sex because I’m too paranoid about catching something.

    @Cats, given your experience with this topic and your place of employment, do you know of any types and/or brands of condoms that are the most effective? Obviously no condom is 100% effective, but like anything else, some must be better than others with regard to protecting you from catching something. Any opions on that?

    Okay, so I was just on the gonorrhoea wikipedia page and for real, do you think that lady knew they were going to use her face on that poster? Because I hope they paid her really well to be the face of the Clap.

    @Brad, I was kidding.
    @iseeshiny, remember when Joey was the face of VD?
    @Brad, really, you have gonorrhoea, don’t you? (I’m still kidding.) ;)

    I think the real cause for concern is all the antibiotic resistance that is going around. And a good part of that is due to antibiotics in meat. Though people should be smart enough to use condoms of course.

    Wow… I don’t think I need to have sex anymore, protected or otherwise. Excuse me while I go tell my SO!

    It’s a bit befuddling that many people don’t think before they act in regards to sleeping around and getting regular check-ups. Also, it’s ironic that our society denigrates sleeping around with the idea of contracting diseases, but reenforces sleeping around because ‘it’s okay when you’re drunk enough to take off your clothes and not think about consequences’. Or, perhaps that’s my narrow-minded, cynical outlook. Lol (That was a sarcastic “lol”).

    I should amend what I said. I meant sleeping around in regards to having unprotected sex, not sleeping around (with protection) because it’s a personal choice. And I want to highlight that I meant in general terms society’s seeming stance on casual sex.

    In other words, no offense was intended.

    @Addie that was the first thing I thought of when I saw that poster

    @Kristina I agree– this is happening with more diseases than just sexual. Anti-biotics tend to be way over-prescribed.

    I feel really, really dumb asking this, but: Could two virgins ever contract an STI, assuming both are faithful and have never had past sexual relationships?

    Sorry, I meant to say, two people who came into the relationship as virgins.
