When I was in my late teens I recorded a tape (yep, I´m old) with all songs that made me cry. So when I was upset about something I would blast it in my room. Yesterday one of them came on the radio and I laughed so hard remembering that. (Bon Jovi FTW!)May 16, 2012 at 9:47 am #26233
Be nice to the teenager . Some of us aren’t that bad….I hopeMay 16, 2012 at 9:51 am #26237
This thread and that other thread with good advice being ignored has pretty much cemented that I am not having children….I won’t be able to handle having my kids ask me for advice – then giving good, unbiased, safe, and logical advice – to only have them ignore it and make the emotional decision (which is the opposite of previous mentioned advice) anyways…. Kudos to the throngs of people who had so much patience in these threads. I can only hope to emulate that in the future…May 16, 2012 at 9:59 am #26242
Omg bethany, are you me? I have seriously a million journals from when I was a teenager, & I listened to Fiona Apple constantly and applied the lyrics to my “love life” (in quotes because…love life? I was 15)May 16, 2012 at 10:00 am #26243
I do agree with @ColorsOfTheWind though I’m trying to be nice to all the teenagers who come on here (not that the tough love people are wrong; I just think a good cop/bad cop dynamic can be helpful, haha)May 16, 2012 at 10:02 am #26246
I think most people initially try to be good cop – but move to bad cop when good cop isn’t working….I try to stop responding before I become bad cop though.May 16, 2012 at 10:06 am #26250
I’ve been following this one too. The only “advice” I had in the beginning – and still have now – is THIS IS THE WORST IDEA EVER!
I refrained from commenting because I didn’t think it would be helpful. But seriously?! Take a step back and try to examine this logically and rationally. There HAS to be a part of you that is able to do that. Try to see it from an outsider’s perspective. It doesn’t even matter if you’re mature or not, so quit feeling insulted by that. THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.May 16, 2012 at 10:34 am #26259
If you ask for advice, then take it. I feel like no matter what we say you are going to do what you want to do.
To answer your first question: THE GUY YOU ARE TALKING TO IS SKETCHY!
Good luck!May 16, 2012 at 10:38 am #26262
I’ve avoided most post that range from 17-21 years of age. I’ve just lost my patience to read it, because I’ve already experienced it a time or two. You can only give so much advice before you just have to let the person stumble, and fall.May 16, 2012 at 10:59 am #26278
Budj- I’m the same way. I will start as good cop but if you just keep giving excuses and getting defensive, I will turn into bitch cop. I try to reserve myself on these forums though haha.
And bethany- I totally had the pity party journals too! Hahaha wow i hope they are all long gone because I wrote some embarassing crap in those.May 16, 2012 at 12:03 pm #26305
IDEA FOR A THREAD! Angsty Teenage Journal Entries.
I saved all my journals and they are SO embarrassing. Someday I’m going to burn them all.May 16, 2012 at 12:13 pm #26307
Dont you dare tempt me!!! I have 15 years worth of journals at home!!
I’m totally going through them tonight to find some of the best stuff.May 16, 2012 at 12:20 pm #26308
I have an entire trunk full of journals. I have NO IDEA what I’m going to do with them when I, I don’t know, die? I kind of like that there’s a record of my life (it’s always fun to re-read) but then again…there’s a record of my life, & I don’t want anyone else reading that shit! AH!May 16, 2012 at 12:22 pm #26312
(I could be mayybe persuaded into posting an excerpt, though– haha)May 16, 2012 at 12:23 pm #26313
My mother mentioned to me just the other day that I should journal at least one sentence per day. The way you guys discuss your old journals is exactly why I was so vehemently against it. :p
Should we move the discussion to a new thread, devoted solely to old journal and diary contents?
