That both sides of a break up has me a bit enraged….

I give Ian credit for not even letting the thought of what could be (was) going on cross his mind. I fail in this dept. I def ask questions when things like that happened with my relationships., only for the other to go on the defensive like i’m a jerk for SUCH A SILLY SUGGESTION. 🙂 pfffft what the F#*#k ever.

I’m convinced that Barbie book is fake. … I mean, how could presumably a team of smart, educated people come up with the idea for that book, all think it’s a great idea, write it, illustrate it, publish it, sell it… and no one along the way says “whoa this is really, really terrible” (at least no one with power to kill the idea). Really, how? It’s 2014. I don’t get it.

I actually missed that one in the links until I saw your comment. That book left me speechless. I want to find those writers and slap them.
      .
However, as a writer/editor in educational publishing, it doesn’t entirely shock me that something this horrendous was published. That book falls into trade publishing, but I’d guess something like this went down: there was one or two supervisors on the project who asked for this specific type of book to be written and illustrated and they hired freelancers or a vendor to do it. When you’re working for a big client, you don’t have a lot of creative control. HOWEVER- The SECOND I saw a proposal like that I’d be like NO WAY am I working on that. F$^%% this misogynistic shit. So my guess is they either got someone DESPERATE for work (or someone with very little experience) to write and illustrate it. Or they just hired a misogynistic tool to write it and because the supervisor of the project is also a misogynistic tool, they went ahead with the whole thing. Not that any of this matters because HOLY SHIT THAT BOOK SHOULD NOT EXIST!!

In case you missed it, there’s actually an apology at the end about it. They say that book was from 2010, it doesn’t represent the brand, and that it’s been retracted and replaced by more empowering books. So that’s good, at least. I wonder how long it took them to retract it?

Re- the “Both sides of a breakup”: Very sloppy move on Nancy’s part to make out in public with your “lovah.” Good job to Ian for taking the high road and not like, punching Charles in the cheese aisle at TJ’s (yet). I really don’t believe that they were all “good people stuck in the most awful situation”- Nancy got herself into that situation! She made the choice to cheat. Charles knew she was engaged. I just don’t buy that statement at ALL.

Yes I completely agree with this and she 100% did not accept an ounce of responsibility for the choices she made and the hurt she caused, which honestly is almost more egregious than the cheating itself you know.

For real. That “we’re all good people”comment was so cowardly. I mean, I get that people make mistakes and I don’t think she should be punished for it for the rest of her life, but at least when speaking publicly about it she could show a tad more remorse.

Totally cowardly! She messed up, so she should own it.

Well Nancy upgraded to old money.
      .
Isn’t is weird the way she describes her fiancé with affection while she isn’t all that engaged in her husband’s pursuit. As if she still cared more about old fiancé than her current husband!

Hey Wendy, is that picture of your and Drew’s hands? You could be hand models! … Unless those *are* hand models.

Those are hand models. Drew has nice hands, but mine are really wrinkly and busted looking for some reason — definitely not one of my best features.
