As a big-bottomed gal, I’m happy to hear this (not that it really matters, since no one besides my husband regularly sees me in my undies anyway, but still): “Young Women Say No to Thongs” [via NYTimes] PS These are my favorite granny panties — they’re comfy, cute, and they don’t bunch or ride up your butt.

“7 Appeals To Moms From Women Without Children” was such a great article, with a subtle, but clear feminist message. I loved it!

I think this is one of my favorite things I’ve read on the topic, “We are all beautiful women with choices or circumstances that have put us in this place of being with or without children. Let’s not waste any time judging each other. Let’s support one another. We can lift each other higher if we stand together.” I feel like I need to put it on a t-shirt or hand it out on cards, haha.

OMG….the heartbreak in “I Lost My Pregnancy. And Gained a New Perspective on 20-Week Abortion” is so palpable.

Edited after I read the article about the egg donating, to say, I can’t BELIEVE the seeming lack of care from the medical community in these two stories. Be advocates for yourselves with your doctors and nurses! Trust your instincts…if something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. I am not sure the outcome for the woman with the still birth would have been any different had she been more persistent, but if a doctor told me I was bleeding internally, I wouldn’t go home and go back to work.

Yeah, I couldn’t read past that part about bleeding internally because all I was thinking was, what the HELL are those doctors doing???

Wendy, your favorite granny panties are still very stylish. To me, granny panties are large, cotton, and go up to the belly button. And are oh, so comfortable.

I fully agree with this. Those panties she linked are in no way granny panties.

Yeah, bikini cut are not granny panties! I’m with Allison, granny panties cover the belly button.

I agree with you both, bikini cut are not granny panties. The idea of “granny panties” may be relative, since Bassanio sometimes calls my underwear that, but it’s even more revealing than Wendy’s (full coverage but skinny on the sides).

I’ve been seeing articles on “thong vs. granny panties” all weekend and apparently the world thinks anything that ISN’T a thong is a granny panty. Um, no? I never wear either one! I, too, think granny panties are the huge cotton Hanes-in-a-6-pack that come all the way up. I wear boy shorts, bikini bottoms, all sorts of full-butt models that are in no way grannyish. I just can’t have nothin up my crack…

Funny that you should say that you look for “granny panties” because of a big butt. I’ve always opted for thongs because of mine.

Me too, thongs feel the most comfortable for me even though I don’t love the look of them.

I have a big butt and I find thongs extremely uncomfortable. I think it’s that I’m too tall for them maybe? Like they want to sit at my waist, but that pulls them up so they’re always digging in. Whereas with full panties my bum fills them and forces them to stay put. Although I’ve never yet met the pair that covers my butt cheeks, which is annoying because they keep trying to wedgie me. I think I’d have to go for full-on granny panties to actually be comfortable in my underwear, and I’m just not ready to take that step. 🙂

Is the switch in panties thing really a thing? I can honestly say, in my recent “purely for research purposes” findings, that thongs are very much still being worn regularly.

Is it a single vs. married thing maybe? Regional? Only on weekends? I don’t know. I think of women’s panties the same way that I think of men’s dress shoes. They may not always be comfortable – but damn they look good when you go the extra mile. Definitely consider me +1 for sexy panties all the time.

I love your dress shoes analogy, because Bassanio puts so much time and money into finding comfortable dress shoes and always comes away disappointed. He’ll find any excuse to wear his three piece suits, but dress shoes… If he could get away with sneakers at work, I think he totally would.
