Friday Links: September 14

Here are a few things from around the web that may interest you:

“There are indeed many unchangeable factors that determine who we’re attracted to, when we fall in love, and even whether or not we’re likely to wind up divorced. But at the end of the day, relationship outcomes aren’t just dependent variables to be predicted by a host of pre-existing factors; they’re also choices that we actively make.” in Psychology Today

From Newser: “Woman Finds Ex-Boyfriend Living in Attic.” And you thought you had a crazy ex.

From CNN: “How to tell if your relationship is really in trouble”

From Buzzfeed: “26 Very Real Consequences Of DADT Repeal”

From Salon: “When My Wife Got Cancer”

In a new blog called “Finding My Voice By Erin,” a rape surviver speaks out about the importance of women fighting for their healthcare rights.

From What Mighty Contests: A funny flowchart for figuring out whether it’s ok to flirt with a girl.

Thank you to those who submitted links for me to include. If you see something around the web you think DW readers would appreciate, please send me a link to wendy@dearwendy.com and if it’s a fit, I’ll include it in Friday’s round-up. Thanks!

The flow chart wasn’t funny and pretty inaccurate. I think it was a flow chart for a certain group of women… Some women like to flirt for fun and not all flirting has to lead to a relationship…

Ya–I agree. Maybe if it said “hit on” or something, but flirting is a pretty harmless activity.

Are you single should also be like question #1. I was SUPER annoyed at all the taken men flirting with my friends last weekend. Some, even in front of their gfs..ugh

What do you mean by flirting, though? I’m curious because people seem to vary wildly on their opinions of what flirting actually is.

Hmm, I guess I’m thinking more in terms of body language. Like leaning in to talk more touching etc. I couldn’t hear the actual convos, just saw the dudes reacting to my friends obvious moves til another friend came up and whispered to them that he was dating so and so at the party or had a LDR gf etc.
