Dear Wendy

Reader Home Tours: Lets_be_honest’s Townhouse

Your Name: (DW nickname and real name if you want to include it) – lets_be_honest.

Where is the location of your home? – NY.

What type of property it is? – Townhouse.

How many years you’ve loved there? – Only three months.

How many people (and pets) reside there? – One adult who acts like a child, one child who acts like an adult and two cats who dislike me.

What’s your favorite thing about your home? – The grey chair in the living room is my favorite spot (tied with my two walk-in closets (a first for me!) and my daughter’s craft room (too messy to show). Also enjoying the exercise provided by having three floors and lots of stairs to climb. Another plus of having stairs (also a first for me) is being too lazy to climb them for midnight snacks. We’re also a stone’s throw to three parks, which is awesome.

If you could change one thing about it what would that be? – The walls could use some color, but it’ll get there.

The photo above is lets_be_honest’s livingroom. See more photos of her place after the jump.

P.S. I sent the shoe closet picture for Brad to scare him away! The other closet shot is just to show my growing OCD problem.

* To submit your home for DW Reader Home Tours, please send 3-5 photos with corresponding descriptions to wendy@dearwendy.com and write “Reader Home Tours” in the subject line. Please include answers to the following:

Love that armchair (and right next to the fireplace, too).
And I´m with iseeshiny on the shoes.

And I do the exact same thing with the coathangers. A few years ago we had a clothes store, whenever I would stop by I had to arrange them all so the hangers were facing the same way. It drives me crazy when they don´t!!!

I don’t get it…maybe I have the same issues, though.

*ahem* I think you forgot to mention another adult who lives there!! 😉

Ooops. Is that like a Freudian slip or what?! I guess my little joke doesn’t work anymore now that there’s 2.

I see nothing wrong with your closet. I have all of the same type of hanger (although my husband has started to sneak in some randoms), and my clothes are all arranged by type (tanks, short sleeve, long sleeve, sweatshirts/jerseys) and within each of those groups, they are arranged by color. I like it that way, makes it easy to find what I want 🙂

You know it’s funny you say that because my first thought when I saw your rack [of shoes] I just started shaking my head, haha. I even did a quick count and each rack seems to hold about 25 pairs of shoes…and there are 2 racks in the picture alone…

PS. Just because the hangers are evenly spaced doesn’t mean you’re worthy of the OCD title. You have to have your shirts color coordinated AND evenly spaced, but yours aren’t! I’m telling!

I had remembered us discussing shoes on another thread once.

I’m so happy to hear everyone else seems to have super organized closets as well. It’ll help me sleep at night lol.

Aw, I’ve miss you and being here all day long. But I’m having a great funemployment. Yesterday I took my bike to the shop, did 3 hours of yoga, sat int he sun while I ate some fruit, and then went to the dentist. What a busy day! Today I’ve done 2 hours of yoga and eaten a veggie burger. Now I’m watching Mad Men for the 4th time while I clean. Later, I’m going for a walk. Who knows what’s in store for tomorrow! 🙂

Oh My God. Mad Men. Lets discuss – So did Don actually screw the yellow dress lady and then just had a dream of killing her – or were both dreams? What did this mean? He’s afraid of the devil (slash slimeball) inside of him coming back?

      • avatar

        Addie Pray April 10, 2012, 2:39 pm

I don’t think he screwed her. I think you’re right – he’s afraid of the devil in him. And maybe it’s setting the stage for an affair – to show us he’s still Don deep down after all – so when the affair happens it won’t be such a stretch from his doting husband phase at the beginning of this season. Plus I think the war, the riots and the nurse killings all combined are making everyone a little on edge and … loud and violent.

The only encounter with the lady in the yellow dress that was REAL was that quick hello and goodbye in the elevator… The rest was all just his fucked up psyche messing with him in a bad dream… The biggest clue to this is how could she possibly even know where he lives…

Okay, what’s the story with the round end table in the living room with the yellow flowers on it? That’s a really interesting piece… What is it made of? Is it metal? Wicker? Inquiring minds want to know…

is your sink blue?? i was watching one of those shows on hgtv i think property brothers and they picked out an awesome colored sink. i’m not sure i would ever be brave enough to do that, because what if 6 in months I decided I hated it?

also i love the orange rug! very cute house 🙂

Yes it’s blue. I didn’t pick it though. Whoever lives here before me loved blue. In fact, from redoing a few things here it seems the entire place was once all blue.

You have a lovely home. Very jealous of your shoe collection.

Had to laugh at your closet pic. My clothes hang on identical hangers, facing the same way, shirts organized by sleeve length and within those categories whites, solids by color followed by patterns. I appreciate when my husband puts his own clothes away but wish he’d do it my way. My daughter, bless her heart, does it just like I would. And my son, if he’d at least organize the clothes on his floor by color I’d be happy.

Growing up I could always tell when my sisters had been in my closet because I knew exactly where and how my clothes were hung.

At first, I couldn’t see the problem with the closet, cause I’m similar in organization. In my closet, not only are all the hangers pointing the same way, but they are arranged by color (I have a few different colors of hangers, so I want them to be all together), and all my clothes are arranged by style (and season) and coordinated from lightest to darkest in color. I know I’m OCD, but it’s SO easy to find my clothes that way!

hmm maybe I’m OCD, because looking at the hanger picture it doens’t seem strange to me at all, other than the shirts look rather disorganized. lol doesn’t everyone hang things by color?

I actually don’t do the colors together. I keep all types together instead-pants, Long sleeves, etc. So you’re seeing the collared button downed shirt group.

Wow, you’ve gotten a lot done in just 3 months! I lived in my house 4 years & never hung a thing on a wall! I’m just so afraid to commit, then have a change of heart later. I really need to just do it! You’ve given me inspiration!

Oh, & love love love that fireplace wall & mantle. Beautiful.

I love your place LBH! I especially love your organizational skills in the closets. I also hang everything going one direction, *and* I also bought similar hangers, the slim-line ones! Although, I was a little sad that they didn’t have enough in one color, so I have 3 different colors of hangers in my closet. (I guess I’m a little OCD too?) 🙂
