Reader Recs: Veritek33’s Very Cool Picks

Screen Shot 2014-03-27 at 10.47.35 AMDear Wendy readers are some of the most intelligent, stylish, super cool people around (it’s a proven fact), so, when a commenter suggested I create a regular feature for them to recommend some of their favorite products, it was a no-brainer and Reader Recs was born. Today’s recommendations come from Andrea/Veritek33, who works as a communications strategist for a lobbying firm in Jefferson City, Mo. She is currently playing the dating field, but she comes home each night to her two beagles, Betty and Bogey, who also function as foot-warmers. In her spare time, she enjoys running, wine, the Boston Red Sox and binge-watching “Mad Men” and “The West Wing” on Netflix.

I have naturally curly hair, and during the humid summer months I wear it natural as much as possible. With this spray, I just wash my hair and scrunch it with a towel and spray it. It makes my hair very shiny and smooth. It really helps with Midwestern humidity and makes it look like I just came from the beach. Oh, and it smells amazing.

cn74095292. Gap Long Sleeve T-shirts

Out of all my clothing items, long sleeved t-shirts are my absolute favorite. I love these shirts because I can wear them with jeans, but I can also get away with wearing them under a blazer and with nice slacks and a statement necklace at work. They’re super soft and comfy while also looking nice. Plus, they’re super affordable, so I have this shirt in probably seven colors.

I love gingerbread cookies, and I could probably eat them all year long, so my dad bought me these and I absolutely love them! I made ninja sugar cookies for a friend’s birthday a year ago and she still talks about them. Plus, these cookie-cutters are plastic and not metal, so they don’t get bent out of shape (literally) and are dishwasher safe.

591420143064. Wine Cooler Sleeve

I bought this while outlet shopping with Applescruffs last fall and LOVE it. I keep it in the freezer and when I decide I’d like some white wine but don’t have any chilled, I put this on the bottle and it can chill it in about 25 minutes. I also use it at parties to keep a bottle of wine cold while sitting on the counter. (It will also fit over a bottle of pre-made margaritas).

_82184805. Kate Spade Bow Ring

My bow ring holds special meaning for me, but it’s just a fun piece of jewelry anyone could add to their collection. Mine is in rose gold — it also comes in silver and gold — and it just seems to go with every outfit. I even get compliments on it from the weirdest places — like from my massage therapist and from the sample guy at Sam’s Club — and it’s super affordable.

Thanks, Andrea!

I’m wearing mine right now! It’s my “You didn’t marry an idiot” ring that I bought myself 😉

I bought myself a “you didn’t marry an idiot!” ring too after my failed engagement. I still wear it everyday! (It’s been 5 years!)

I bought mine the day we were supposed to get married. I love it. It doesn’t even make me think of him, it just makes me happy to have a pretty ring and reminder that I’m NOT with him anymore, lol

Biolage is the best! I use it and every few months someone tells me how good my hair smells. (That might sound like a creepy interaction, but for the most part it’s because they want their hair to smell that good too. I take it as a compliment.)

Will the Biolage serum work on straight/wavy but frizzy hair? After trying a million products I’m excited for this one 🙂

I think it would. My hair is wavy AND curly, depending on it’s mood. In the summer when it’s super humid, I find that this spray really calms down the frizz. I don’t know that it makes it go away completely, but it sure does help.

Another thing that’s making a big difference for me, another person with frizz, is using a deep conditioner as my everyday conditioner, and not rinsing it out very much, just a little. Then a little moisturizing styling cream mixed with a little oil (or I’m sure this Biolage product serves the same purpose). But the conditioner thing (my hairdresser suggested) really helps!

What’s your size? There are lots of them on Poshmark, where I’ve been selling (and buying some) stuff lately.

I’m realizing that funny/offbeat cookie cutters are are an under utilized tool that I want to start taking advantage of (and they’re ironic too, offbeat cookie cutters, get it?!) Wow at least I crack myself up.
