So my best friend in the whole world is having a baby girl in January and my heart is so full of happiness and excitement for her to begin the journey into motherhood. I am planning on buying the baby a few things, but I don’t have any children and I wanted to get my friend something from me to her, for her not the baby. I know lots of moms are DWers and I wanted to know if any of you had any gift ideas for specificity new moms? Something to show my friend that while the baby is getting tons of love and attention, I still want to honor her and the amazing friend/person that she is! I’d love any suggestions! Thanks!September 25, 2017 at 7:26 pm #718746

A gift card for a massage
A gift card at a nail salon
A nice robe (great for the early weeks of nursing when a new mom isn’t wearing much, but also cozy for any time after that)
A little at-home spa kit: bath bombs; body lotion, a good candle; a sleep mask, etc.
A lot of booze.September 26, 2017 at 7:23 am #718840
I always like experience gifts. Have a spa day together. Or a girls weekend before that becomes near impossible for a while.September 26, 2017 at 3:51 pm #718924
I love the robe idea. A massage or experience is always good. I like the “five year journals.”
But, you know her best. Get her something that reminds her of the person and woman she is now, before she metamorphosizes into a wonderful mother.September 26, 2017 at 3:54 pm #718925
My BFF loves coffee so I got her $50 to Starbucks since she had one close to her house and her husband could run and grab it quickly. I also got her a bottle of champagne and hosted the baby shower. She’d much rather I spend money on her kids but I wanted her to have something she would use and enjoy. She stretched that gift card out for several months.September 27, 2017 at 7:37 am #718983
This came up perfectly! My SIL’s birthday is next month, baby is due FRIDAY. I just got her a gift certificate for a massage. She is a great gift-giver, I’m awful but I feel like this was a knock out of the park! I *NORMALLY* just send flowers.September 28, 2017 at 1:42 pm #719160
Thanks for all the suggestions! She is a New Yorker, and I live in Chicago, but maybe we could do something together.
I had a follow up question: A cozy robe, or like a pretty robe? I was looking on Soma and they have cozy ones, and they have like thinner ones, any input moms?September 28, 2017 at 3:14 pm #719167
I’d say cozy based on her due date in January!October 2, 2017 at 4:15 pm #720024
How about a gift card to a clothing store she likes. I am actually within a few pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight and have been since about 2 months but the weight is… redistributed I guess? So none of my pants fit. And its really hard to justify spending a bunch of money on myself when I have to buy diapers, but I was literally in tears the night before I went back to work not because I was sad to leave my brand new baby but because I had nothing to wear.
I finally broke down a couple weeks ago and bought myself some new pants because it looks like I’m gonna be a size up for the long haul here, but… ugh. So I would have loved someone who bought me some clothes.October 2, 2017 at 4:21 pm #720025
Ehh, I don’t know if that’s the kind of thing you want to be reminded of at your baby shower. “your body will never be the same, you will need a whole new wardrobe…”
Just saying!October 3, 2017 at 1:04 pm #720116
Cozy robe Nico! And maybe some new slippers, or really comfy socks, but I think I’d go with slippers.
