If you happen to spot a maxi dress that catches your eyes…lmk.April 14, 2017 at 9:25 pm #681988
That’s a little too white in my opinion, but for context this was my wedding dress: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Kay-Unger-New-York-Off-the-Shoulder-Floral-Print-Ball-Gown/prod178780193/p.prod
I really like the dress, it’s pretty! I’m sure you could find some other occasion to wear it.April 14, 2017 at 9:29 pm #681990
Ack, I didn’t see your last comment! Another maxi dress would be a great idea – I feel like I rarely see people in maxi dresses at weddings and have no idea why, it would work well.April 14, 2017 at 9:29 pm #681991
Thanks, Portia. It looks even better in real life. Your dress is gorgeous!
The couple to be wed are very non traditional, and it’s a second marriage for her but I don’t want to ruffle feathers at all.April 14, 2017 at 9:33 pm #681992
These websites have a bunch of options besides the specific dresses linked to:

Personally I wouldn’t have cared if someone wore it to my wedding. It has a very obvious pattern, and bedsides everyone is aware of who the bride is.
But maybe don’t take my word for it. My own wedding dress was pink, so…April 15, 2017 at 10:31 am #682040
So last spring I found a dress I love that I wanted to order mor my cousins wedding. I think I posted it on the dating thread. It was a white base with lots of large red flowers. I asked my cousin and she said it was totally fine. I ordered and it didn’t fit so sent back, but the moral is….
If you’re close with the bride, I see no harm in asking her.
My only pause with the dress you like is it’s long and the pattern isn’t very bright. But who knows, it may be ok? The worse she’ll say is no.April 15, 2017 at 10:32 am #682041
Also, I have had success with RTR. And I’ve had friends that like it too.April 15, 2017 at 10:53 am #682044
I rave about Rent the Runway all the time, and would also recommend it. I may never buy a dress to wear to a wedding again! I got a million compliments on one dress in particular last June. I LOVED that dress. Their customer service is really good. Last fall, I ordered a dress to wear to a wedding. I had it delivered to the nearby brick and mortar store here in Chicago. The day I went to pick up my dress, I showed up and we all realized I was an idiot and had it shipped to their NYC location by mistake. They overnight-ed the dresses from NYC to Chicago at no cost even though I’m the one who messed up. When I came back from that vacation, I told a buddy at my gym about what had happened, and she told me about a time when she ordered two sizes for a wedding and neither fit. She happened to be in NYC for that wedding, and they sent her alternate options using a freakin’ BIKE MESSENGER. I think if you read the reviews about size/fit, and generally have an idea of what style works for your shape, you’ll find something that works for you.April 15, 2017 at 9:33 pm #682092
I love Kare’s links. Lulus does not disappoint. I am obsessed with several of their dresses.
Here’s another pretty one:

I wanted to try rent the runway for a formal attire optional wedding, because I’d never worn formal to a wedding before and I really wanted to. Problem was I figured all the floor length gowns would be too long (I’m barely over 5′), and it’s not like you can alter them. Oh well.April 16, 2017 at 6:17 am #682113
