Thanks for the books reccs! I’m overloaded with political reads right now and need lighter, fun stuff.March 14, 2017 at 9:45 pm #677920
Oh see this is why I love asking people. I will hear about something then completely forget when remote is in hand. I’ve added a few to my list now. Thanks again everyone!March 14, 2017 at 10:12 pm #677922
I haven’t read the book but Big Little Lies the show is freaking awesome. I love it so far and am seriously jonesing for the next episode.
Thanks for the Schitts Creek recommendation by the way! My husband and I started watching it last night, it’s pretty damn funny.
If you’ve never seen it, Better Off Ted is hilarious. There are only two seasons but it’s great for when the corporate grind starts getting to you.March 15, 2017 at 10:59 am #677981
If you are looking for dramas ala Breaking Bad, I would suggest The Expanse, Black Sails, or Sons of Anarchy. If you want a an irreverent comedy, Parks and Recs, the It Crowd, or the new Series of Unfortunate Events are all greatMarch 15, 2017 at 11:31 am #677988
Anon from LA
Anybody watching Billions? I’d rec it for those who enjoy TV series that deal in character drama and moral ambiguity (such as Breaking Bad, The Americans, Homeland, House of Cards). I’m liking it WAY more than I thought I would. It’s really riveting, and of course, Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis are fantastic. And you don’t have to know anything about hedge funds or finance to enjoy it.March 15, 2017 at 12:12 pm #677998
We’ve been binge watching The Good Wife, and i’m obsessed with it. Timer is a random movie that is hidden in there, but I actually really enjoyed it. The Firefly series is amazing too.March 15, 2017 at 12:37 pm #678008
Agreed with mertlej, Timer is great – interesting take on a romantic comedy, kind of dystopian, and also funny. And I don’t think I commented on Community a few pages back, but it’s easily one of my favorite shows (except I pretend season 4 didn’t happen).
I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this show yes, and it’s not at all a light show to watch in the background… But if you want one that’s really well done and makes you think, Black Mirror is great. The third season in particular (minus maybe episode 3) is so good – episode 4 ended up on some best episodes of the year lists. The show makes strong points about the role of technology relating to social media, Alzheimer’s, grappling with death, bioengineering, and who we consider the enemy, among other things. I liked the other seasons and some episodes were well done, but Netflix just knocked this season out of the park.March 15, 2017 at 1:19 pm #678009
Black Mirror is awesome and so is Billions. So happy someone mentioned Firefly, if you like sci-fi at all that show is pure gold.March 29, 2017 at 8:55 am #679831
Has anyone recommended Love (Netflix). It’s super cute, quirky and very relatable.March 29, 2017 at 9:29 am #679833
I think I mentioned Love, we’ve only watched the first 2 episodes of the new season so far though. We’re watching a bunch of shows at once!
If anyone has Hulu (or regular tv), we love The Last Man on Earth.March 29, 2017 at 9:45 am #679836
Has anyone seen the Pope? I think it’s on NetflixMarch 29, 2017 at 11:11 am #679847
I loved the first season of Love…at first, I was not as into the second, but I’ve been very distracted with the Americans and life in general. I loved the shrooms episode. I think it caught me again by that episode.
Big Little Lies is so good. I rewatch nearly every episode so that I don’t miss anything.
