I’m traveling internationally in a few weeks and I’m having trouble finding a purse to carry. I really want a crossbody that’s big enough to carry my wallet, an umbrella, a sweater, and some electronics (for the plane). I’m debating just bringing my Longchamp (my usual plane go-to), but I really really want a crossbody so I don’t have to worry about carrying it, or putting it down somewhere, or having it get snatched off my shoulder.
Does anyone have any recommendations?April 12, 2017 at 7:52 am #681472

Sounds like you need a messenger bag. How much do you want to spend?April 12, 2017 at 8:05 am #681476
Also, does your longchamp tote have any rings on the ends for a crossbody strap? Because they do sell those, and you could just add it instead of buying a new bag. They also sell messenger bags and the tote-loooking bags that are convertible to crossbody.April 12, 2017 at 9:58 am #681490
Are you looking for something casual or a bit nicer? A few years ago, I bought a leather crossbody bag for work at Nordstrom Rack. It’s Kate Spade, and I paid maybe $200. It’s very large and fits my two billion everyday essentials in it. The crossbody strap is detachable if I’d rather sport a tote-style bag. At this point it’s a bit worn because I’ve used it so much, but it was a great purchase. So, I’d recommend browsing Nordstrom Rack. This is a personal preference, I’m sure, but I STRONGLY prefer crossbody when I travel.April 12, 2017 at 11:47 am #681504
I’m not sure what electronics you need but I have been eyeing this:
Fjallraven also has some really nice canvas cross body/backpacks:
Edited to add…these are not large! Oops. Sorry.April 12, 2017 at 12:35 pm #681513
I want to carry my kindle and iPad on the plane, so I need something that will hold that.
@kate, my longchamp doesn’t have rings, I didn’t know they sold some that did! That might be perfect, because my longchamp is my favorite travel bag other than the lack of crossbody. That thing holds EVERYTHING.
I’m willing to spend up to $300 I think if it’s a good bag, because I’ll use it day to day too.
Also I LOVE Nordstrom rack, that’s a great idea!April 12, 2017 at 12:42 pm #681517

A note, ipads have a kindle app that works the same. Might be something to consider so you don’t have to carry both. It even has the setting so you can read in sunlight and such.
