She’s composed, and I think on a surface level she speaks well, at least compared to her dad, but what the hell is she ever really saying? Did you see the Samantha Bee review of Ivanka’s shit-fire of a book, where she played clip after clip of Ivanka talking about women needing to “architect” what their life will look like? She kept saying “to architect” and “architecting” over and over like a broken record.May 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm #687389
Yeah, she has no substance, but I don’t think the people who like her are too concerned with substance. The surface is perfect, and that’s what they care about.May 18, 2017 at 2:06 pm #687392
Really? I think the surface is bland and boring. She has all the style and taste of a entree from the Olive Garden circa 2001.May 18, 2017 at 2:18 pm #687393
She’s the NY version of Paris Hilton. They even have the same plastic surgeon judging by the nose.May 18, 2017 at 2:19 pm #687394
Please don’t get me wrong people – Melania can end up in a dumpster fire for all I care. I just imagine her reaction versus other 1st ladies (I’m including Nancy Reagan for fun) and the version in my mind is highly amusing.
As for that garbage “feminist” Ivanka – if anything screams “appeasement” it’s her and her smug petty husband. Yes, she’s attractive and can string words together in such a way that she doesn’t sound like a vapid socialite a la Paris Hilton. People think she’s the fucking Trump-whisperer and that she’s going to somehow exert this calming influence. Yah – how’s that working so far? She clearly lives in an alternate universe because the rest of us, when presented with a father who is at best is a molesting creep and at worst is an unconvicted rapist who has supported global gag rule on advising women that abortion exists that he “is supportive of women and women’s health” would feel our brains leaking out our ears as the cognitive dissonance turned cerebral matter in to jello.
So yeah – I’m not much of a fan.May 18, 2017 at 2:22 pm #687395
“As the cognitive dissonance turned our cerebral matter into jello”
Now THAT is a turn of phrase!May 18, 2017 at 2:22 pm #687396
Ivanka is the epitome of what conservative, Fox-watching older men want in their female personalities. She has Faux written all over her face. She has mastered her mother’s vacant expression. It’s the “I’m not here, just look at the clothes/orange one’ look. This is apparently what conservative men crave in a woman.May 18, 2017 at 2:25 pm #687397
@BGM, perfect to them. I agree, I don’t think she’s perfect at all. But like I said, she could win a beauty pageant, and that’s the “right kind” of woman to the people who are fawning all over her.May 18, 2017 at 2:32 pm #687398
Oh yeah, she’s the perfect woman for those guys. In the latest episode of Handmaid’s Tale, they did flashbacks on the Commander’s wife, and she really reminds me of Ivanka. Tall, slim, nice figure, long blond hair, feminine, demure, religious, always in a dress. Joke’s on her though, after they put their evangelical dystopia in place. No one is allowed to read her book now, “A Woman’s Place.”May 18, 2017 at 2:33 pm #687399

my fav part of the above link:
Ivanka Trump wants the public to buy her being both feminist and not a feminist at once; she is Schrödinger’s feminist. She poses for girl power photo-ops, but doesn’t speak up for the women’s health care that’s on the chopping block in the potential ACA repeal. Her brand’s tagline is Women Who Work, but she doesn’t fight for a living wage for all female workers and manufactures her clothing overseas in countries where workers are often mistreated. She’s proud to be a wife and mother, but hasn’t made a peep about this country’s disgraceful maternal mortality rate, especially among women of color. Ivanka, an obvious beneficiary of the work of feminists, does little to actually help the sort of women who would have no reason or means to purchase Ivanka Trump-branded pumps and pencil skirts. The child leave policy she’s rumored to be circulating on Capitol Hill is little more than an opt-in tax break for businesses, with benefits that would go primarily to women earning more than $100,000 per year. Ivanka may be empowered, but she is not empowering. She is as feminist in practice as a chubby 42-year-old man wearing a Blackhawks jersey is Jonathan Toews.May 18, 2017 at 2:40 pm #687401
She is to feminism what Gwyneth Paltrow is to lifestyle brands.
