I have no knowledge of car seats.
Kid friendly places for a 1 year old: Everywhere but the top tier of restaurants. Everyone has high chairs and kids menus. Central park zoo is small and easy to walk through – penguins, grizzly bears, hot house with birds and snakes, petting zoo on the other side. Cooper Hewitt is is small as is the Museum of the City of New York. Guggenheim too – all fairly close to one another (the Museum of the City of New York is a little farther north). I recommend the small museums because you can only distract a kid for so long before they become restless and if timed well everyone can get in – do a loop and then get out before meltdown.
At 1 year old the kid’s interest isn’t really driving the entertainment, it’s more their schedule and temperament. In what area of the city is your hotel?March 23, 2017 at 9:11 pm #679311
Just checked from my apartment in upper west side — you can get an Uber to JFK with a car seat for 10 dollars more; the wait time was 7 mins instead of the usual 2, but you could also reserve it ahead of time. Also, Uber (and all the other services like Gett and Lyft and Juno) do pick up directly from the airport where everyone’s families do pickup. I just did it last week.March 29, 2017 at 11:13 pm #679937
I couldn’t imagine dragging a car seat around. Mine is steel framed and weights a ton. (Although it folds up) Good to know Uber can provide one. I have never been to NYC with the kids with me. Come to think of it, I have never been in an Uber either. My hubby has a few times.April 2, 2017 at 10:40 am #680182
The kid is 1…. it won’t remember any of this. In fact don’t being a 1 year old to NYC to much infectious diseases in that hell hole. Why bring a 1 year old? So u can burden the whole group with a crying baby n car seat requests? So like the rest of the ppl living there get in a dirty infested subway with ya baby in a stroller n ride out.April 3, 2017 at 10:59 am #680269
There are potential diseases lurking everywhere…not just in NYC.
