I have no knowledge of car seats.
Kid friendly places for a 1 year old: Everywhere but the top tier of restaurants. Everyone has high chairs and kids menus. Central park zoo is small and easy to walk through – penguins, grizzly bears, hot house with birds and snakes, petting zoo on the other side. Cooper Hewitt is is small as is the Museum of the City of New York. Guggenheim too – all fairly close to one another (the Museum of the City of New York is a little farther north). I recommend the small museums because you can only distract a kid for so long before they become restless and if timed well everyone can get in – do a loop and then get out before meltdown.
At 1 year old the kid’s interest isn’t really driving the entertainment, it’s more their schedule and temperament. In what area of the city is your hotel?March 23, 2017 at 9:11 pm #679311
Just checked from my apartment in upper west side — you can get an Uber to JFK with a car seat for 10 dollars more; the wait time was 7 mins instead of the usual 2, but you could also reserve it ahead of time. Also, Uber (and all the other services like Gett and Lyft and Juno) do pick up directly from the airport where everyone’s families do pickup. I just did it last week.
