Three years isn’t ghosting, as everyone else says. I can’t imagine just up and leaving like that and then wonder why the person I left is going a bit nuts trying to find me! What. The. Hellz!August 23, 2017 at 2:07 pm #698068
I did up and leave someone kind of like this once. But, I had already tried to tell him I wanted to move out, and he got really angry and scary and said I was never moving out. So I did it while he was at work. I still left a note though! I told him I’d call the next day, and I did, and we met to talk things over. Still broke up, but I think I did what I could.
This? This is crazy. Especially to not understand why the person might be distraught.August 23, 2017 at 3:23 pm #698080
@RedRover I think there’s a huge difference between someone who leaves like that because their partner is exhibiting odd/scary behavior when you try to break up with them, versus someone who carefully plans his silent exit. If their relationship was abusive or anything along those lines, his letter didn’t indicate that at all. It sounds like he simply didn’t want to go through the “hassle” of breaking up with her. (As if everyone else breaks up because they enjoy the awkward conversation that comes with it…?)August 23, 2017 at 3:28 pm #698081
Oh, and re: the sheer coincidence here. I went to a couple international schools, and the teaching community actually did seem small. (Relatively speaking.) Still a big coincidence, but didn’t seem unrealistic to me.August 24, 2017 at 12:29 pm #698148
Yeah, I’m not saying it’s not fake, but there’s kind of a community of people that teach English abroad and go live in different countries, so if that’s how they met, it wouldn’t be so shocking that they ran into each other again.August 25, 2017 at 2:02 am #698194
Omg I read this letter to my husband it was so awful. What an utter douchebag this guy was (and still sounds like). FWIW I didn’t think it sounded out of the realm of possibility-more like karma in delayed overdrive. Sweet, sweet karma.
