Updates: “Infatuated with Married Boss” Responds

It’s time again for “Dear Wendy Updates,” a feature where people I’ve given advice to in the past let us know whether they followed the advice and how they’re doing now. Today, we hear from “Infatuated with Married Boss,” the young woman who had developed a crush on her married boss after he’d been making inappropriate advances toward her for weeks.

Thank you very much for your advice — that plus the comments made a lot of sense. After reading everything I am really not bothered about him at all and I am concentrating on getting a new job which I will hopefully get soon. Some of the things that were said were harsh, but I guess I needed it in order to rid myself of that silly attraction.

I’m making parts of your response my mantra if I find myself still attracted to him as I go back to work after my holiday break.

I probably should have added in my first email that my boss owns the interior decorating company and his wife owns a college where I am also employed and currently studying. Because the college is fairly new, we’re still undergoing the process to become an exam center, so, for the time being, we take our exams at another college which is approximately an hour and a half away. Therefore, it wasn’t unusual for my boss to take me for my first exam as it was in an unfamiliar place and he needed to go into town anyway to pick up stuff.

Once again, thank you and thanks to everyone who commented; you have helped me so much.

Good luck on your job search!

Well, being alone with your boss when you have a crush on him is dicey — no matter how convenient or logical it may seem…
