Updates: “No Delinquents, Please” Responds

It’s time again for “Dear Wendy Updates,” a feature where people I’ve given advice to in the past let us know whether they followed the advice and how they’re doing today. After the jump, we hear from “No Delinquents, Please” who wondered if she was obligated to invite her bridesmaid’s deadbeat boyfriend to her wedding next May. “He’s been arrested numerous times for drugs, as well as for hitting her and other women. He’s currently in a rehab facility where he will be until November,” she explained. I told her that since her wedding wasn’t until May, there was a likely chance the lady-beater probably wouldn’t be in the picture by then anymore and to just wait things out. After the jump, a happy update.

Thank you so much for posting my question!! As it turns out, not too long after you posted my question, Carrie and her boyfriend broke up. She is in the process of MOA-ing and she really seems a LOT happier, which makes me happy!!! She’s been the most amazing bridesmaid since my sister is far away and I feel that her dumping the skeeze was the best decision she ever made.

Thanks again for taking the time to post and respond to my question and a HUGE thank you to the readers for their support!!!

If you’re someone I’ve given advice to in the past, I’d love to hear from you, too. Email me at wendy@dearwendy.com with a link to the original post, and let me know whether you followed the advice and how you’re doing now.

Fantastic News! Best of Luck with the Wedding Planning!

  6. I’m glad that she broke up with this guy, but I don’t think you’re out of the woods yet. In your original letter, you mentioned that they have broken up and gotten back together before. Just to be safe, at some point when she is ranting about him, I would mention how much you were afraid of his behavior at your upcoming wedding. Hopefully then, even if they get back together before the wedding, she’ll have the sense not to bring him.
