Happy October, everyone! Here in the northeast, we got instant fall weather the second the calendar turned over yesterday, and I’m loving it. Time to bust out the pumpkin beer and cozy sweaters and my favorite ode to fall that I link to every year because it’s just that awesome. Also every year, there’s a song I sing about our cats, Miles and Simone, looking really cute in October. I forgot how it started, but I’ve been singing it to them for, like, seven or eight years now — it’s a pretty great song — and every year, I’m so happy they’re both still around for me to sing it to them (for the record, Miles is 10 and Simone is 16 now).

This was an exciting week in our household. Drew won an Emmy! A motherfuckin’ Emmy! Pardon my French, but I think this calls for it. I’m married to a fucking Emmy-winner! (Totally unexpected — we didn’t even know he’d been nominated, but he was and he won and now I have to figure out where we’re going to put an Emmy — a motherfuckin’ Emmy!). Any other high point from the week pales in comparison, but I’m proud to say this week also marked my 8th anniversary as a New Yorker, although I think true, born-and-bred New Yorkers would argue that I can’t call myself a New Yorker if I’m simply a transplant, but fuck it, I married a New Yorker, had my wedding in Central park, and birthed two babies in New York, and I’ll probably be here forever, or at least for the foreseeable future, so I’m a New Yorker, and to prove my point I’m going to say fuck one more time.

Anyway, that is all. It’s 11:30 am as I write this and I just texted Drew and asked if it’s too early to crack open a pumpkin beer and he said no, so that’s what I’m going to do, while I eat my salad and look at my baby asleep in my lap. Happy weekend!

P.S. For the person who’s shopping for a trench coat, this one’s awesome and marked down an additional 30% with code XTRAXTRA (from $158 to $63).

AN EMMY?! Holy crap, that is excellent. Congrats Drew!

My birthday is Tuesday, and I took Monday & Tuesday off, hoping Joaquin would miss Queens (and he is! woohoo!). We’re probably just going to eat crazy amounts of mac & cheese and guzzle bourbon til Wednesday = perfect way to start off 29.

Wow, an Emmy?! In what category? Congrats, Drew! I heard that Kate Winslet keeps her Oscar in the bathroom…
Well, today is my birthday, and my coworker made a chocolate cheesecake! And my coworkers sang happy birthday and we all ate cheesecake before lunch. So tasty! My weekend will be a bit busy- I’m having dinner with a friend tonight, tomorrow I’m getting a facial, and Sunday is my friend’s wedding. Then Sunday night I am flying to New York for a week! Hooray!
I’m happy it’s fall weather in NY since it’s been nothing but warm and sunny here. It rained a couple of days ago, but otherwise, it’s dry dry dry. I’ll happily take rain and fall weather.

waaaait, i want to hear more about this chasing down a purse snatcher thing. I love tales of everyday heroism (or, in some people’s cases, blinding rage that leads to actions that, in hindsight, are questionable).

I just ate my third eggo waffle and peanut butter for the day. I guess that’s the extent of my yolo while 8 months pregnant…

Yeah, drew totally chased down a purse snatcher two weeks ago. The guy was probably 20-25 years younger than Drew and Drew chased him down, the guy got scared and threw the purse and Drew picked it up and gave it back to the woman it belonged to. Everyone was very impressed.

Congratulations Drew! That is awesome! And, that picture of Jackson is darling. Also, I love that coat but sadly they’re sold out of all sizes except the small one 🙁
    .
It’s finally fall here. I think it might stick. It is pouring out and we’ve got flood warnings. I think it sounds like a perfect evening to get in my PJs, curl up with my husband and pets, drink mulled cider, and catch up on Walking Dead season 5.

I saw it on your Instagram earlier this week and was about to comment, then I thought that might be weird, so I didn’t and just liked it instead LOL. But CONGRATS to Drew on winning an EMMY, being a HERO chasing down a purse-snatcher and all around awesome guy!

YAY to Wendy for being in NYC for eight years and experiencing the fall colors and weather. Here in SoCal it’s still close to 90 degrees 🙁

I love this post for many reasons (congrats Drew, on your Emmy! And yay for fall and decorative gourd season!) but mostly I love it because of your excessive use of the word fuck. Well fucking done.

I had a pumpkin beer too, but you know what is really good? A nice chocolatey stout. Maybe we should have that next, hmmm

It’s not linkable, unfortunately. It was breaking news coverage that was broadcast throughout the day, not just one short easy-to-link-to piece.

Where I live is getting so much rain. I’m lucky that even though I’m on the coast I’m up high. There are many people to my North and South who are dealing with 5 feet of water on roads at low tide. We’ve had a quarter of our yearly rainfall in one day and more is coming today. Hopefully people listen to the statement put out by our governor and loval governments and stay home. I know I am!! I cooked a batch of chicken and dumplings in the crock pot and I’m actually going to watch Netflix and chill today, hah.

This is amazing, CONGRATS to Drew and the whole family! Why did I think that he did something tech-related? I must be making that up. And foiled a robbery in the same several week period? TOO COOL!!!!!
