Happy October, everyone! Here in the northeast, we got instant fall weather the second the calendar turned over yesterday, and I’m loving it. Time to bust out the pumpkin beer and cozy sweaters and my favorite ode to fall that I link to every year because it’s just that awesome. Also every year, there’s a song I sing about our cats, Miles and Simone, looking really cute in October. I forgot how it started, but I’ve been singing it to them for, like, seven or eight years now — it’s a pretty great song — and every year, I’m so happy they’re both still around for me to sing it to them (for the record, Miles is 10 and Simone is 16 now).
This was an exciting week in our household. Drew won an Emmy! A motherfuckin’ Emmy! Pardon my French, but I think this calls for it. I’m married to a fucking Emmy-winner! (Totally unexpected — we didn’t even know he’d been nominated, but he was and he won and now I have to figure out where we’re going to put an Emmy — a motherfuckin’ Emmy!). Any other high point from the week pales in comparison, but I’m proud to say this week also marked my 8th anniversary as a New Yorker, although I think true, born-and-bred New Yorkers would argue that I can’t call myself a New Yorker if I’m simply a transplant, but fuck it, I married a New Yorker, had my wedding in Central park, and birthed two babies in New York, and I’ll probably be here forever, or at least for the foreseeable future, so I’m a New Yorker, and to prove my point I’m going to say fuck one more time.
Anyway, that is all. It’s 11:30 am as I write this and I just texted Drew and asked if it’s too early to crack open a pumpkin beer and he said no, so that’s what I’m going to do, while I eat my salad and look at my baby asleep in my lap. Happy weekend!
P.S. For the person who’s shopping for a trench coat, this one’s awesome and marked down an additional 30% with code XTRAXTRA (from $158 to $63).
