Weekend Open Thread

MILES HALLOWEEN

Thank you, everyone, for your condolences and kind words this week in the wake of my FIL’s death. It’s been a difficult couple of weeks, and I think it will take a while to fully process the experience and move on, but at least in our day-to-day lives things are beginning to get back to normal. I hope to be back to work as usual next week. In the meantime, I’m happy there are a still a few weeks left to enjoy my favorite season in New York, including Halloween this weekend. Jackson will dress up like a black cat and Joanie will be a little mouse (Jack’s idea). This morning I got to watch Jackson in his first Halloween school parade and tomorrow we’ll take him trick-or-treating with some neighborhood friends. Do you have Halloween plans this year? What are you dressing up as?

PS Don’t forget to fall back this weekend (re. Daylight Savings Time), womp-womp.

I’m glad life is getting back to a little bit of normalcy for you. We’re perfectly capable of being patient while you get back into the swing of things 🙂

This year I’m being nothing for Halloween – for the first time in…. ever. Usually I do a costume for the party we throw but with a 3 1/2 month old I just don’t have the time or energy to throw a big party for 40 of my closest friends and their families.

The baby on the other hand is stylin’ for Halloween. Last Sunday he was bacon (awesome costume) and he’s had an outfit every day for the week. Tomorrow we’re going to a football game with him so he’s going dressed as Bucky Badger (our mascot).

Ooh Honeybeenicki what were his other costumes? Babies in costumes are so cute. One of the ladies at work dressed as Princess Leia and brought her in her little boy as Yoda. Yoda sucked on his ear for a while. 🙂

Last night was nice for us. We had a great time with some wonderful people and made some memories with our kids. We made some Jib-Jab videos and played some games and gorged on food including an entire table of cute little Halloween cookies, pumpkin bars, popcorn balls, brownies, and cupcakes. There was cider, which was spiked for those inclined. I’m feeling good, rich and thankful.
