Weekend Open Thread

4thOfJuly-1

Happy 4th of July weekend, mi Americanos! And Happy Canada Day to most of the rest of you. (And happy Friday to everyone else). What are you up to? We have zero plans except that my sister will be here visiting. Guess I better think of some stuff for us to do (a challenge these days with a baby who only sleeps in a crib and will freak out if more than 2 1/2 hours have passed since her last nap. Do you know how hard it is to do anything in New York with only a 2 1/2-hour window? It takes half that time just to get anywhere!). We’ll have a family birthday party for Joanie at some point while my sister is here. Joanie’s actual birthday is the 7th and I remember very clearly the 4th of July holiday weekend last year when I was nine months pregnant with her and very anxious about going into labor while the bridges to Manhattan were closed for fireworks and not getting to the hospital in time. I didn’t go into labor over the weekend, but I did worry so much that my blood pressure skyrocketed and it stayed that way long enough to be a risk to the baby and I had to be induced a couple days later. So, happy birthday to Joanie, born two weeks early because her mom’s so neurotic, hooray!

Have a great weekend, everyone! Enjoy the festivities.

Happy 4th! Happy Canada Day! Happy Friday! No definitive plans other than to relax, maybe pick up a new book, go hiking with our puppy dogs, and smoke some chicken. My husband’s been learning how to use the smoker and gets better every time so I can’t wait for that.

I’m so excited for this weekend, not about that fourth…that’s probably my most hated holiday. Instead, we are going to see a bunch of our friends we haven’t seen in two years since we moved away. It feels so good to be back with people we love. And, the weathers been perfect and I couldn’t be happier to be back in the state I consider home. Happy 4th! Happy Canada Day! Happy first birthday to Joanie!

My birthday is Sunday, so we are going to do my favorite thing: brunch! There is a place near me that does $3.50 mimosas. But like water glass mostly champagne mimosas. I’m so pumped!

My birthday is this weekend too. I”m seeing some friends from out of state at the lake (haven’t seen them in a year!). I also had an incident at work where I got yelled at by a parent for 20 minutes, so I’m happy to get a long weekend.

Happy everything! This week flew by, it feels like. There is some work being done to the front of our house and it was soooo loud today that I had to get out of the house. So I took baby to a nearby park and lounged on a blanket for a couple hours. It was so nice. Then we went to a nearby restaurant on the water and sat on the deck. Momma had a beer and steamers. My husband met us since he got out of work early. Then I went and had an ahhhhh-mazing pedi followed by a nice mani. The woman who did my nails gave the BEST massage. Tomorrow we’re going over a friend’s house for a BBQ and looking forward to it.

Happy birthday to all those with birthdays! And enjoy the brunches. They all sound so yummy. I can’t wait for the day I can have a proper Sunday Funday – once I’m done breastfeeding I am gonna get my brunch on.
