Weekend Open Thread

We made it to Friday, guys! What a week this was though. I’m feeling a little tender, and not just because of all the awful recent news (although that’s all bad enough!). My beloved grandmother had a heart attack late Thursday night and I’m worried about her. Drew and the kids and I were going to go visit her in a few weeks — tickets and hotel are all booked — and now I don’t know if she’ll make it, and what state she’ll be in when we get there. I haven’t seen her in a year and was hoping to get one more visit in. She’s been so frail. My parents drove up to St. Louis to see her, and I would try to get myself there, too, but Jackson’s birthday is Monday and we’re throwing him a party Sunday — the first he’s wanted for himself in three years — and I need to be here. I know my grandma would understand, and hopefully, she’ll recover enough that we can spend some time with her when we come visit in a few weeks.

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend — Americans celebrating their “let’s slaughter the natives and steal their land” day, and all you sweet Canadians celebrating Thanksgiving. Enjoy it all, and I’ll see you back here next week!

Wendy – I hope Jackson’s party is awesome and that your grandmother is on the road to recovery by the time you read this. 🙂

Today is Columbus Day, hence Wendy’s comment about the U.S. celebrating the start of the Native American land theft and slaughter.
