I’m in Chicago! As I mentioned earlier, I got in last night, just in time for my friend Chad’s birthday party. I was up ’til 3 AM (4 AM NYC time) and I woke up at… 5:45, because that’s what time I wake up at home. And so I got dressed to go for a run… and then I had a great idea: I should go back to bed! So, I did. And I slept ’til 10, which is more like it. Also great: I drank five bottles of water last night, so I’m not even a little bit hungover today. It’s like I’ve finally learned something.
This is kind of a downer, but my flight took off yesterday shortly after the Malaysian Airlines flight was shot down, which is horrible and sad, and I didn’t put it together until after we landed, but wifi was disabled on our flight and the flight attendants gave us unlimited free wine and beer. It was a Delta flight. That’s not the norm for Delta, is it? Free wine and beer, I mean? And the wifi thing could have been a coincidence, but, once we landed and started hearing more buzz about that plane shot down, I thought maybe the disabled wifi and free booze were deliberate. Has anyone else been flying somewhere when another plane is hijacked or crashes? What was the reaction inboard?
Also! Totally unrelated, but worth saying so we end this on a more positive note: the last month of DW has been one of the best in terms of readership growth. In exactly four weeks, readership has grown 20%!! I don’t think readership has ever grown so quickly over a short period of time like that except for in the very beginning. Some of the growth is because of my recent POPSUGAR partnership, which is going great (this post, for example, which was syndicated on Monday, has been shared over 11,000 times on social media!). Some of the growth is because you’re sharing content, too — liking it on FB and passing it around — and, for that, thank you so much! If you don’t already, would you “like” Dear Wendy on Facebook, Twitter? The more you like it, the more others will find the site, and, the more others find the site, the better chance there is that DW will be here for a long time. Gracias!
Anyway, happy weekend to you all! Hope it’s a great one.
