Weekend Open Thread: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Photo1-1

On Sunday, Jackson, Drew and I are flying to St. Louis to spend some time with my family. My parents are flying in from Germany, my sister will be visiting from Austin, and we’ll all be with our extended family for Christmas. This will be only the second time in my life I’ll be with my parents and my grandparents for the holidays — and, of course, the first all of us will be together with Jackson. So, it will be a special time.

I’m going to take a true vacation and not post any new content until January 2nd. I hope you’ll take advantage of the forums to stay connected in my absence, and please check out my favorite posts of 2012 as well as the top 25 most popular posts of 2012 — chances are there’s at least something among those columns that you haven’t yet read.

Thank you all so much for making 2012 such a fun and successful year on DW. This was a year of many lessons for me, both personally and professionally, and I have you to thank for a lot of them. We’ve got some fun things in store in the new year – did I ever mention that Miles has been writing a book?? He has! — and I can’t wait to see where 2013 takes us. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and Happy New Year to you all, from our family to yours!

And for those of you who are interested, we’ll be having a communal DW Christmas toast at 4:20 Mountain Time, Christmas Day. Raise a glass and send a little love to your fellow DW pals, won’t you?

See you next year!! xox

I’ll be in St. Louis too! Husband and I are visiting his family as well as driving to Rolla to visit my brother and his family. I’ll wave in your general direction. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for making Monday thru Friday a little more bearable. Have a safe trip.

You’re flying out and I’m sitting in an airport waiting to finally get home! I’ve been gone for a month for work training and I’m very much looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight!

Merry Christmas, Wendy! Hope you have a wonderful time celebrating with family. I’m excited for our firsts this year, first time celebrating Christmas day by ourselves and with friends too. Tomorrow starts the baking extravaganza! Sugar and peanut butter cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, sausage balls, meatballs and little smokies! I’m giving a lot of the baked goods away to neighbors and taking the rest to the Christmas celebration with friends. I love everything about the Holidays and I’m kind of sad that it’s almost drawing to a close, so the next week and a half (that I have off! woohoo working for a university has it perks) is going to be dedicated to everything Christmas and New Year and helping my husband at his store, which is actually fun since it’s not my day job! 🙂

I want to see it. Is anyone Chrimstas drunk yet? Just me? That’s fine. I am digging the Arizona Christmas. I was wearing a maxi dress today while wearing drinking tequila with a Christmas hat on. I think this is what happiness is.

I was going to take a picture after she had flat ironed it and everything, but I feel weird about taking pictures of myself so I didn’t. That’s the prettiest it’s gonna look though, so I missed a valuable opportunity. Dang it.

I’ll be Christmas drunk with you tomorrow! Today was my Christmas Eve so it was full of baking and cleaning. Ugh. I could have used a drink lol

Me, I’m drunk! I’m drinking red wine, eating mint M&M’s (i was curious so i bought a bag – and i’m in love), and watching a special about polygamists. Nothing says Christmas like wine, mint M&M’s and polygamy! Merry Xmas Eve Eve, all!

I was Christmas eve drunk last night! The night ending with me drinking vodka alone watching The Words. Sounds more pathetic than it was.

Merry Christmas, Wendy and all other DW’ers! Also, happy hannukah.. Sorry it passed already and happy festivus/solstice to AK and others.

Heading to the parents’s place shortly.. Gotta hunker down for the 6+ hour drive back to the Fin Du Nord! Hope that everyone stays safe and remember to scatter in a few random act of kindness and ‘be excellent to each other.’

    Merry Christmas, everyone!

I’m at my parents house, and I’m the first one up… Looking at the tree and the snow. It’s so pretty. I love that my mom still has presents from Santa and waits until after I go to bed to put them under the tree. Today is going to rule!

The white Christmas that PA got is awesome. There’s nothing like having it snow on Christmas eve and hearing all the church bells.

Merry Christmas everyone! Thankfully the temperature FINALLY went down (at midnight it was still above 40°C/104°F!!!!), so it was easier to pig out on typical holiday foods (vittel thoné, YUM!)
