Wendy’s Picks

3655635-p-multiviewWendy’s Weekly Picks,” is a feature in which I highlight stuff I like or recommend in the worlds of fashion, gift ideas, home decor, makeup, websites, entertainment, and recipes. Of course, many of the things I link to will be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make. As always, I appreciate your support! Here are my favorite finds this week:

I’m in love with this brand for boots. The leather is soft and buttery, the fit is super comfortable, and they’re all so stylish. Which would you pick? I’m loving these and these.

You probably know that JCrew has been in the wedding dress business for a while (my own wedding dress was from JCrew); you may not know that they are discontinuing their wedding line and, thus, all the bridal attire is marked way down. I love this gown, discounted from $600 to $222.

These are cute little trinket dishes to keep jewelry and hair bands and the xanax you might need at 3 AM when you wake up with a start and remember who our president elect is.

I’m still loving our new bed we got a couple months ago, but with winter coming and the temps dropping, I’ve been looking for warm, cozy sheets to heighten the sleep experience. These jersey sheets from Garnet Hill are everything I wanted — soft, warm, soft. (And they’re 25% off through the 29th.)

I was looking for like a new coat or something that might make winter a bit more exciting/tolerable/fun. This, I think, should fit the bill.

Also, these shoes are on sale and they’re everything my 6-year-old self though being a grown-up woman would be like. (Oh, 6-year-old self: add lots of bills, worries and concerns, traffic, ice cream for dinner if you want, and the threat of an American dictatorship and you’re so close).

Dudes! Stichfix now dresses men! I signed up Drew and he got his first fix last week and, though he only kept one thing, that one thing — the perfect jeans — immediately became his favorite item of clothing. He can’t wait to see what they send next time.

Remember those fun pink rubber balls from childhood? Turns out they’re great in adulthood, too, especially when used to knead out tight muscles. We use them in my workout classes, rolling the soles our feet on top of them or leaning our backs into them against a wall, working out kinks. They really work!

I really wish we had something like Stitch Fix in Canada. Even if they expand, the duties to here will make it too expensive. We need our own company, but no one’s started one up yet it seems. On the plus side, I found a yarn subscription service in Canada! I know what I’m asking for for Christmas!!!

I signed my husband up for Bombfell for his birthday this year (the gift is I am paying for anything he keeps for a year). It’s very similar to Stitch Fix, but they send 3 items and there is NO styling fee. We’ve been pretty happy with it!

I like Stitch Fix, but when I brought up men’s SF to my boyfriend, he had no interest. According to him, clothes are only to prevent the world from seeing him naked. Ha!

Kate or K? I tried Stitchfix about 5 times and wasn’t that into it. A few pieces were cute but priced higher than I’d normally spend on them. I don’t have social media (not even FB anymore), so admittedly they have no idea what I look like or what my style is, and sent me stuff that was either bland/basic or frumpy.

And yeah, my husband would not be into it at all either. He wears Gap jeans, same fit and size every time so no try-on, sports tees, Jordans, and picks up other non-staple stuff like a shirt with hula girls or a sheepskin coat as we see it and it strikes his fancy.

Whoops, I was walking an unruly dog here in SF while on my tiny vintage 4S iphone and read Kate somehow… 😉

I vote no on Stitchfix if you feel fine dressing yourself and aren’t a busy mom.
