“Wendy’s Weekly Picks,” is a feature in which I highlight stuff I like or recommend in the worlds of fashion, gift ideas, home decor, makeup, websites, entertainment, and recipes. Of course, many of the things I link to will be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make through the affiliate links. As always, I appreciate your support! Here are my favorite finds this week:
Finally, the long search for black ankle boots is over. After buying and sending back a couple of other pairs and debating over several more, I saw a woman wearing these a couple weeks ago, and they looked so cute that I bought a pair myself and then found them to be perfect — stylish, comfortable, and durable for my walk-a-lot lifestyle. Price point isn’t too bad either.
Of course, new boots call for new socks (not really, but my empty sock drawer calls for new socks). I really like the variety at Madewell, like these, and they’re on sale this week, too.
Also on sale at Madewell, this awesome scarf, which would make a wonderful holiday gift for a lucky someone.
West Elm is having a 20% off sale on their beautiful bedding. If I didn’t share my bedroom with a dude I needed to consider when decorating, I think I’d go for something like this. This is our actual duvet cover currently on our bed, and it’s on sale, too, at Urban Outfitters (25% off).
Wondering what to do with all the squash in your CSA delivery lately? I tried this recipe last week — it’s vegetarian, fyi — and it was easy, super delicious, and healthy to boot.
Speaking of healthy, I mentioned not too long ago that I was going to start making more smoothies and I wanted to give an update on that. I am, in fact, making more smoothies. And for the most part, they are meal replacements (usually breakfast) and, contrary to some commenters’ argument that they wouldn’t be filling, they keep me — and Drew — satiated until lunchtime. After I struggled making smoothies in our not-very-great blender for a couple weeks, I splurged on a fancy upgrade (our early Christmas gift to ourselves), and now I can make our smoothies in mere seconds. I follow recipes in this book, blending in various superfood ingredients, like flaxseed, chia, cacao, and acai, plus spinach and some frozen fruit. And, like, I don’t want to brag or anything, but when Jackson threw a tantrum at school pick-up the other day, refusing to walk home, I was strong enough from all this healthful eating that I was able to pick him up and carry him to our apartment and up our three flights of stairs while also carrying the baby, a diaper bag, and Jackson’s backpack. Booyah.
Ooh, pretty! (And almost 50% off).
I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned what my favorite jeans are. They’re pretty perfect, especially for women with some curves. They have a contoured waist, so they’re higher in back and lower in front. Why aren’t all jeans like this? I don’t know. But these are! Plus, they’re soft, a little stretchy, and comfy, and I love them.
