Wendy’s Picks

FullSizeRender-24Wendy’s Weekly Picks,” is a feature in which I highlight stuff I like or recommend in the worlds of fashion, gift ideas, home decor, makeup, websites, entertainment, and recipes. Of course, many of the things I link to will be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make through the affiliate links. As always, I appreciate your support! Here are my favorite finds this week:

Drew and I just got this new duvet cover from West Elm to lighten and freshen things up for spring and summer. I love it! West Elm bedding is currently up to 40% off.

I need a new bag that’s big enough to carry a library book, a wallet, and maybe a couple diapers and a bottle when I don’t feel like lugging a whole diaper bag. A friend turned me on to Hobo brand bags a while ago and I really like this one, especially for spring/summer. This one is great, too, or this one. All massively marked down!

Are you all watching the Amazon original series, Catastrophe? If not, you should be! It’s hilarious, and it’s not dumb at all like most sit-coms are. The premise is: an American guy, on business in London, has a “one-week stand” with a “London schoolteacher that leads to an accidental pregnancy. When he moves to the UK to help figure things out, cultures clash and hormones flare as these two realize they don’t know the first thing about each other.” Drew and I are watching season two now, which I am especially enjoying because the couple just had their second baby and so I relate to some of the issues they’re dealing with. It’s an R-rated comedy, fyi, so there’s lots of dick jokes, swearing, and naked boobs. You’re welcome.

Natori is my favorite underwear brand currently — it’s comfortable, it’s really pretty and sexy, and it’s very reasonably priced at Nordstrom Rack. I especially like this style.

Shout-out again for Stitch Fix in case you haven’t tried it yet. I’ve had four “fixes” now and, though they aren’t always a hit (in the last delivery, I only kept one out of five items), I always get something I love that I wouldn’t have found or gotten for myself otherwise. I have a couple of new spring tops from Stitch Fix (including the one pictured above, made exclusively for Stitch Fix) that I’ve just started wearing and get tons of compliments on. It’s so easy to try on the stuff in the comfort of my own home and then return in the pre-addressed bag everything I don’t want to keep. Try it for yourself!

I was having dinner in Manhattan the other night with my friend, Taigi, who’s probably my most fashion-forward friend, and she was wearing this amazing faux fur pompom necklace I noticed right away. Other people noticed it, too; at one point, this older woman in a floor-length fur coat and walking with an entourage to a private room in the back of the restaurant stopped when she saw Taigi and said, “I love your necklace! Pompoms are very ‘in’ right now! I read it in the The Washington Post, no wait, The Wall Street Journal.” Of course, as soon as I got home, I Googled the article and sent the link to Taigi, who had, of course, just looked up the article herself. She told me to check out Asos for cute pompom accessories, which is where I found these awesome earrings. Elsewhere, I also love this necklace, this necklace if you’re feeling fancy, these earrings, this purse if you’re a high roller (or this one if you aren’t). Pompoms!

In an effort to stop snacking on all of Jackson’s snacks (or, as I call them, “Jack Snacks”), like goldfish and peanut butter crackers and stuff like that, I’ve been stocking up on healthier options (and also offering them to Jackson, which he usually declines), like these pistashios, which I’m now addicted to. Seriously, the sweet chili ones? Omg!

And a bonus recommendation from a reader:
“I bought this bag at a Marshall’s and have since become an avid buyer of the brand. I was looking for a carry-on and I didn’t realize it was a diaper bag (oops), but it turned out to be PERFECT for any kind of travel because it has a zillion pockets and, the best news, it’s washable.”

Yes, my boyfriend and I were both excited when the second season came out! And the 2 main actors have great comedic chemistry.

Yes! I’ve known about Rob for a long time now (hilarious). But him and Sharon together are from another world. Even during their interviews they sizzle. Love them.

Seriously, Stitch Fix is saving my life right now. All the flowy, wispy styles that are popular right now are terrible for my body type. Stitch Fix is literally the only shopping I’ve done in the past 6 months. I usually have at least one item that I *love*, but I usually average about 2-3 things that I end up keeping. It seems like they always send me a piece or two that pushes me out of my comfort zone, just a smidge. They also sell shoes now!

The best part of Stitch Fix is the flexible schedule. You’re not locked into a once a month plan unless you want to be. I’m currently on every other month, but I know that they offer a every third month package, as well as an option where they’ll only send you something if you specifically schedule it.

I agree about Stitch Fix! I got my friends at work into it too. It’s amazing. I get things I’ve been on the lookout for in the last few months and things that push me outside of my comfort zone that I ALWAYS get tons of compliments on. It’s incredible and my favorite part of the month is always when I get my box! I usually only keep 1-3 items, but my last box, I kept everything! It blew me away.

I’m a longtime lover/aficionado of pom poms; they exist just to add cheer! also they are very easy to make yourself, without even a pom pom maker (though that makes it easier, all you need is yarn, scissors, cardboard)

I’m looking for recommendations on men’s sandals. My girlfriend hates the look of most men’s sandals (whether it’s Birks or my Nike flip flops), so I’m looking for rec’s for summer footwear that she may actually like on me. Now I live in sandals from May to October for every non-working hour, so it would be nice to find something that she doesn’t grimace at. Otherwise it will be another summer in my favourite Nike flip-flops.

Chaco’s, dude. They last forever, they’re super comfortable, and they’re great for high impact activities like hiking/walking.

They’re not sandals, but they’re a summer slip-on shoe that actually looks good on a man. Waterproof, too!

I’m one of those girls who only like flip flops on a man’s foot. That said you can up your game from the Nike version, which I’m guessing is more sporty, and go for something with leather or the like. We got my husband a pair that was leather last year and they are great.

Also, if you have to show toe you might think about getting a pedicure. Many men could use them.
