Wendy’s Weekly Picks

hmprodWendy’s Weekly Picks,” is a feature in which I highlight stuff I like or recommend in the worlds of fashion, gift ideas, home decor, makeup, websites, entertainment, and recipes. Of course, many of the things I link to will be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make through the affiliate links. As always, I appreciate your support! Here are my favorite finds this week:

My parents got Drew and me two of these amazing pillows for Christmas (per my request) and we’re loving them! I usually toss and turn a lot at night, but with these pillows that has stopped and I stay in place and get a restful sleep (well, restful-ish, since I’m usually woken up at least a couple times by the younger Condellberrys in the house). I will say that, by mistake, we got one queen size and one king size and it proved to be a fortuitous error because we both liked the queen size pillow much better. My recommendation is that even if you have a king-size bed like we do, order the queen-size pillows anyway (the king pillows are too big in my opinion, and using one is like cuddling up to huge a bear, but the queen pillows are just right). Bonus: They’re currently on mega sale (84% off!).

I want this coffee mug. (Also, these are super cute).

These little trinket dishes are so cute, I’m tempted to buy a few to have on hand when I need a last minute gift for someone.

I really love this whole “bed in a bag” bedding (it’s not called that, but it’s the same idea). Perfect for a young single woman or girl getting her first apartment or starting college.

Fargo, Season 2. Who’s watching it? I didn’t even watch the first season (tried but didn’t like it), and I am blown away by this season. SO GOOD!

Joanie’s at the age where she’s stuffing everything into her mouth, especially any jewelry I happen to be wearing that she can grab, like the long necklaces I usually favor. So, in a fit of inspiration, I ordered this teething necklace and since it’s pretty cute and stylish (and 85% off!) and also feels good against Joanie’s gums, we’re both happy campers. This would make a nice baby shower gift, along with maybe some bibdanas, which are a new and popular trend since Jackson was a baby. (It’s funny because we use them so much with Joanie and I have no memory of what we used with Jackson to sop up all the drool. Did he just not drool? Did we not care? I don’t know…)

I got this jacket from H&M on sale a couple months ago and it’s been one of my favorite things to wear. It’s half off now. Glamour on a budget, my friends, glamour on a budget.

I’m a big fan of the bibdannas! (Is that what they’re really celled? Clever.) My sister got some for my baby, and they’re adorable, and more effective than regular bibs, in my opinion. (The bibs I had been using on him were too big and didn’t hang well on him.) I hadn’t heard of or seen these before. I wish they came in bigger sizes, though. The bandannas have a few settings but I have them on the biggest setting already, and he’s only 4 months old. (4 months! Today!) I mean, I get that he’s a big baby, but still, they should have more settings to accommodate big babies. Maybe they do. I haven’t really looked. I should look. I’m rambling.

Are you looking for something for drooling or feeding? Because for feeding, seriously, get some of these:

      .
They may be a bit big still, but you can wipe them clean in the sink, you can throw them in the wash, and they cover everything. I had a friend who changed her kids after every meal. No way! Throw one of these babies on and you’re good. They’re super cheap too. I had 4 and that was enough. We used them even when they were too big, we just put a bib underneath.

I use the bibs for drooling… But those smocks sound very handy! I’ll have to invest in some.

Yeah, they’re good once they start solid food, and *especially* once they start wanting to feed themselves. So worth the few bucks.

Interested in a new pillow! Are they for real slim, Wendy? I have a short neck, and awesome fluffy hotel like pillows mean I can’t turn my head in the morning…

The King size is not slim. The queen size is and it counters to the shape of your head and neck so you don’t sink into it.

Wendy are you a side, back, or front sleeper? I’m a restless side-sleeper and always on the lookout for good pillows for a better night’s sleep, but need something designed for a side-sleeper. Or anyone who is a side-sleeper, if you have a pillow you love I’m all ears!

ETA: Also did you notice if maybe you got a regular king instead of a slim king, and that was why it seemed so different from the queen? It looks like there are regular and slim versions of both kings and queens, unless I’m misunderstanding it. Thx!

The pillow link doesn’t work for me. 🙁 it just sends me to a generic page on Amazon and says it can’t find the product!

If you are in Canada, it re-routes it automatically to amazon.ca…which doesn’t carry the pillow. So just copy the title and go to amazon.com and paste it there

I got a bamboo pillow for Christmas as well and it has been the best night sleep I can remember having in forever. Just total blackout, no waking up, no pain sleeping. I’ve always had neck and shoulder issues (just been diagnosed with a form of arthritis so that answers a lot of questions) and even when I could hardly move to get up I could still sleep ok.

Yes, Fargo Season 2 is by far one of the best shows ever! And each episode gets better and better until it builds to a jaw dropping crescendo.
