Mother’s Day is just around the corner (May 10th, this year) and it’s time to choose the perfect token of your appreciation for the woman/women who raised you (or is raising your kids) — something that says, “Thanks for wiping butts and making grilled cheese — you’re the best!” Here are 18 gifts ideas that will get the job done in style (just like she does).

1. For the mom who likes color and keeping dry: Bugaboo Andy Warhol Flowers Universal Parasol
2. For the mom who likes dainty jewelry: Gorjana Greer V Neck Necklace
3. Another necklace choice for the mom or grandma of young kid(s) whose first initials can be close to the heart.

4. For the ladylike mom who likes to know what time it is: Nixon The Kensington
5. For the boozy mom: 6-Piece Stainless-Steel Bar Set

6. And: pretty, pretty cocktail glasses (these are even more gorgeous, but $$).
7. Ooh, and this very expensive, but totally awesome lacquered bar cart.

8. For the mom who likes smelling divine (this is my favorite perfume!): L’Artisan Parfumeur Ladies Circus Design Coffret
9. For the mom who’s concerned about aging skin: Philosophy Miracle Worker(TM) Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer 4 oz

10. For the mom who likes to keep her money and cards stashed real pretty-like: Rebecca Minkoff Sophie Snap Wallet
11. For the expectant mom: a gift certificate for a prenatal massage, please. Oh, and a pretty and super functional diaper bag.
12. For the mom who likes home design: Dot & Bo Apothecary Bottles with Tray – Set of 7 (Take it up a notch with some pretty flowers).
13. And in lieu of a flower arrangement (or in addition to): something equally beautiful, but a little more long-lasting.
14. For the crazy cat lady mom (who likes warm beverages): Black & White Cat Mug Set

15. For the thirsty, eco-conscious, elegant mom: Takeya 16oz Glass Water Bottle
16. For the mom who loves to garden.
17. And for the mom who just likes to sit on her porch and watch the day go by: beautiful wood wind chimes.
18. For the mom who really needs some new clothes: A gift certificate to Stitch Fix, a personal styling service that will pick out and deliver clothes and accessories right to her front door. If she chooses to keep anything from the first or subsequent deliveries, your gift certificate will go toward the cost of the items (the styling fee is applied to anything purchased, too!).

You know what else makes a great gift, especially if your mom already has tons of “stuff” and doesn’t need more (mine’s a borderline hoarder)? Check out Harry & David, they do nice gift baskets and fruits and stuff. I got my mom the tower of treats or something like that, she loved it. It’s pricey (especially if you’re shipping to Canada and paying in Canadian dollars), but super nice!

That’s a good idea.
.
My mom’s birthday is the same week as Mother’s Day and I’ll be visiting her and my dad the week before, so my gift (probably a combo bday and Mother’s Day, depending on how much I spend) is to plant flowers around her house (near her front door and in window boxes that I bought her last year on her deck). She loves planted flowers but doesn’t have a green thumb and is disabled anyway and would have a very difficult time planting them herself, so she likes that I can do it for her for the spring and summer ahead. So, that’s another idea for people who live close enough to their moms or happen to be visiting their moms soon.

And my mom also loves just getting flowers delivered (she doesn’t care for gardening). It might be old-fashioned, but if your mom loves flowers, there’s nothing wrong with sending a bouquet!

One fall I was visiting my grandmother over her birthday, which was unusual because we lived so far away. I found out what her favorite spring flowers were and bought the bulbs and planted them for her. They bloomed every spring for years.

Definitely not a mom but I’d like to think I’m a cat “mom” so I think those cat mugs are calling my name……..

I love the cat mugs but they are hand wash only. I’m sure my daughter would love them but we only buy items that can run through the dishwasher. It’s too complicated to keep track of what can go through and what can’t and no one wants to wash the dishes by hand.

I ordered my mom a custom perfume based on the notes of her favorite discontinued perfume. We’ll see how it turns out, but the shop has good reviews for their custom blends. I’ll probably get her some flowers or a plant as well. Plus a card. Cards are her favorite part of gifts.
