It’s wedding week here on Dear Wendy and, to celebrate, I have some handy-dandy wedding-related gift guides to help you find the perfect gift for the brides, grooms, bachelorettes and bridesmaids in your life. When it comes to bridal shower/bachelorette gifts, you can play it safe by shopping a couple’s registry, but, if they don’t have a registry or if you’d prefer giving something a bit more personal, unique, and specifically for the bride, keep reading for some of my bridal shower/ bachelorette gift ideas of 2014.
Pre-Wedding
Philosophy Here Comes The Bride Gift Set
The Philosophy line of skincare is one of my favorite, and this bridal set includes some of the line’s bestsellers, like the purity facial cleanser, Hope in a Jar moisturizer, Amazing Grace perfumed shampoo, bath & shower gel, Amazing Grace perfume, firming body emulsion, plus a single-use sample of the micro-delivery peel. A perfect gift to pamper and to prepare for the wedding day.
Lush Bath Bomb
These are, hands-down, my favorite bath product, and, at over 6 bucks a pop, they’re a luxury, too. But, man, a lush bath bomb bath is worth it — relaxing as all get-out, and it leave skin super soft. Plus, this sex bath bomb supposedly has special aphrodisiac powers.
UGG Women’s Fluff Flip Flop I Do
OK, so these are probably meant specifically for the wedding, but they’d be great for the weeks leading up to the wedding, too (and beyond, of course). Ol’ girl can slip into these after her moisturizing baths (see above) or wear them while getting her practice makeup and hair done or watching sappy movies with her cat.
For the wedding:
Something New: Personalized Champagne Glasses
Lovely, keepsake champagne glasses for all the wedding toasts at the reception, these glasses can be personalized with the couple’s initials “carved” into the tree trunk. So cute!
Something Old: Vintage Compact Mirror
This unique compact mirror is perfect for the bride to slip in her purse and use to touch-up her makeup throughout her wedding day (and beyond).
Something Blue: Japanese Design Silk Handheld Folding Fan
Pair it with some breath mints, solid perfume, and a pretty hair pin for a purse-size collection of wedding day necessities.
For the honeymoon:
Sanuk Women’s Yoga Mat Flip Flops
I got these for a friend a couple years ago to wear on her honeymoon in Hawaii and she raved about them — said she wore them every day and throughout the summer. They’re made from yoga mats and they’re super cushy and comfy — perfect for beach strolls, poolside lounging, and walking along rocky terrain.
Nightgown and Undies Set
So, you want to get your friend something for those sexay honeymoon romps, but you don’t want to delve into, like, raunchy attire, because that’s weird. This fits the bill — it’s pretty and romantic with a touch of sexay. Plus, it’s high quality and at a price-point that’s affordable for most.
Earthly Body 3-in-1 Suntouched Body Massage Candle Dreamsicle
Dudes, it’s a candle that can be used as massage oil when burned. Hot. Literally.
For married life:
The Newlywed Cookbook: Fresh Ideas and Modern Recipes for Cooking With and for Each Other
Because the newlywed couple who cooks delicious, beautiful meals together, stays together. At least until the final course..
Picnic Time Circo Cheese Set
I love this sweet set for the couple who love spending time outdoors. And if you want to go with a theme, you could pair the cheese set with this super cute picnic blanket from ModCloth.
The Newlywed’s Instruction Manual
Because all of life’s big transitions should come with a manual.

Sanuks are the best flip flops in the WORLD.
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 2:17 pm
Nope. Wrong. Rainbows.
bethany April 29, 2014, 2:21 pm
I know we’ve discussed this before, but my Rainbows are too slippery! The leather on the sole wore in a way that makes them super slick and they slide off my feet.
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 2:26 pm
hmmm. IDK why you’re are like that. Mine aren’t, and my 4 pairs in the past haven’t been either. Have you ever gotten them wet? That toughens them up a bit.
bethany April 29, 2014, 2:27 pm
The only time they don’t slide off my feet is when they’re wet! I love them when they’re wet. (that sounds gross)
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 2:37 pm
no, I know what you mean. Maybe the problem is your feet, not the sandals,
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 2:39 pm
You don’t have to toughen up or get sanuks wet in order to wear them. You just wear them. Rainbows suck and sanuks are pretty.
iwannatalktosampson April 29, 2014, 2:40 pm
I have my sanuks on RIGHT NOW. (What, my boss is in court all day)
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 2:43 pm
Do you have the thin ones or think ones?
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 2:43 pm
Rainbows are pretty too! They are all classy and leather.
bethany April 29, 2014, 2:46 pm
I have been convinced!! I will buy Sanuks! BUT– I don’t actually need flops right now, so maybe next year, I will buy them.
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 2:46 pm
Glad *someone* has seen the light through the ugly flip flop tunnel.
Also, you DO need flip flops right now. Trust me.
bethany April 29, 2014, 2:50 pm
But I have at least 4 functional pairs already. You should buy them for me.
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 2:51 pm
Your’s are not functioning well at all. They are falling apart and probably uncomfortable. If you just want to find something to complain about all summer, then by all means, keep the old ones. Or, find happiness in your life and get the Sanuks now. The choice is yours.
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 2:55 pm
IDK, I don’t think she needs more! I only function with one pair and they last me on average 3 years, and I wear them probably 300 days a year. And they match everything, which is why Rainbows win!
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 2:56 pm
Stop trying to trick bethany, GG.
p.s. ugly doesn’t match anything!
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 3:02 pm
rainbows are so not ugly. they are classic.
iwannatalktosampson April 29, 2014, 2:54 pm
You don’t want your flip flops to be functional, you want them to be a rejuvenating foot experience.
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:05 pm
I think a free pair would be the most convincing argument.
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 3:08 pm
I will trade you TWO pairs in any color you wish for one scooter. You get two things, I only get one. This is in your favor.
katie April 29, 2014, 3:09 pm
technically bethany will get 4 things. even sweeter!!
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 3:10 pm
5 if you count the warmth in my heart.
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:17 pm
NO ONE IS GETTING SCOOT.
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:18 pm
Dude, check it out:

Scoot AND Rainbows!!
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 3:19 pm
Damn, those are some fugly sandals in that picture 😉
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 3:20 pm
I win!
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:33 pm
I take credit for that down thumb.
katie April 29, 2014, 2:56 pm
who knew there were such emotional responses to flip flops. the most emotional flip flop experience i had was at the wedding last weekend when i realized there were flip flops for me to change into. that was a happy moment between me and the flip flops.
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 3:03 pm
yes. I always pack wedding flip flops.
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 2:38 pm
You couldn’t be more wrong.
honeybeenicki April 29, 2014, 2:46 pm
I feel like I need to try these. I am in desperate need of a new pair of flip flops.
No Pants April 29, 2014, 2:16 pm
I second the Lush bath bombs. I got some for my bridesmaids and oops may have bought some for myself, too.
bethany April 29, 2014, 2:20 pm
My mom got us toasting flutes and a cake cutting set to use at the wedding, and I’ve really enjoyed having both. I bust out the toasting flutes at NYE and any other time we have a sparkling beverage. It’s fun!
lemongrass April 29, 2014, 2:31 pm
My aunt from Sweden got us hand painted champagne flutes and a champagne bowl(?) for filling with ice. I don’t know if that’s the proper term. Anyways, she didn’t want it to get broken so she flew with it on her lap the whole freaking time. That’s love.
iwannatalktosampson April 29, 2014, 2:36 pm
Yeah that’s the definition of love. That act is better than the gift itself. Although the gift is awesome too, but you get my point.
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 2:25 pm

That’s my second favorite shower gift. Matching NFL mugs where my first.
katie April 29, 2014, 2:42 pm
so my friend’s friend got her a really nice bottle of gin for her “something blue”. it was awesome.
theattack April 29, 2014, 3:23 pm
Did I say that I got married last year? Because I was totally just kidding. I’m getting married this year instead. All of these things would be acceptable gifts for the virtual wedding I’ll be throwing in the DW forums, btw.
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:30 pm
I’m going to have a potluck, BYO party for all the people who didn’t get invited to my wedding. They’d better all bring me gifts.
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 3:32 pm
I have a gift for you! (For real.)
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:32 pm
I have 12 gifts for you!
GatorGirl April 29, 2014, 3:33 pm
😀
Cassie April 29, 2014, 9:27 pm
These gift guides are making me want to become a polygamist so I can have more weddings.
lets_be_honest April 29, 2014, 3:41 pm
If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the old letters DTing bethany.
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:44 pm
Don’t you dare!!
bethany April 29, 2014, 3:44 pm
I have to go do work now. Bye 🙁
kiki April 29, 2014, 5:57 pm
Is there going to be a gift guide for second weddings where the bride and groom have both been married before and have kids and are well established and have everything…because I need that…
