Book Club: June’s Selection

Next week we’ll discuss Fifty Shades of Grey (get ready to “flush”), but in the mean time you can pick up a copy of June’s book club selection, which is a memoir by Ann Patchett called Truth & Beauty: A Friendship. I read this book a few years ago and absolutely loved it, finishing it in one sitting on a train from Manhattan to Vermont where Drew and I spent the weekend in a charming B&B. It’s the story of a tight and complicated friendship between two women writers (Patchett and Lucy Grealy) and the depth and limitations of their love for one another. You can read some synopses and reviews here.

You can pick up the paperback copy here, and the kindle version here.

So are these all books leftover from the first vote still, or are they random picks? Will we get to vote on books again in the future? What’s the process of book selection right now?

    1. I’m choosing books I think people will like. I don’t know whether there will be a vote again, but you’re welcome to make suggestions, either in comments, the forums, or via email to me.

Okay cool. Thanks for the quick reply!

I’m wondering – Are you looking mostly for new-ish titles that are currently popular, or are you open to classics and other sorts of books?

      2. Definitely open.

  2. Hello Wendy,
Longtime reader & first time commenter: du you have a possibility of providing a link to amazon UK for those of us living in Europe? As much as I like to support this wonderful site, delivery costs from the US are prohibitive. Just a thought and keep up your wonderful work.

  3. It works! Maybe I’ll even join the book club discussion!
