Your Name: LANY (aka “Nancy Isaacson,” guest author of this, this, and this.)
Where is the location of your home? Venice Beach, CA (Los Angeles), 2 blocks form the beach and defying the LA area by being a short walk to lots of great restaurants, bars and shopping.
What type of property it is? Contemporary Condo. Loft style, concrete floors, views of the Santa Monica mountains, sunsets, and on a clear day all the way to the Hollywood sign and Getty Center.
How long have you lived there? Closed escrow just over three years ago… time flies!
Who else lives there? My wonderful boyfriend, and a couple plants (plants have a very questionable lifespan in my place – the gorgeous palm tree has since kicked the bucket and been replaced).
If you could change one thing about it, what would that be? Make it bigger! We’re actually looking for a new, bigger place… An actual change I could make: I would like to put in some hardwood flooring in some places like the bedroom, so it’s a bit “warmer”… I love the finished concrete, but wouldn’t mind mixing up the textures a bit.
The photo above is LANY’s livingroom. The “desk in the far left corner is where I do my DWing,” she writes. Check out the rest of her place after the jump:

This is TK’s view, which she says is the “best part of the condo,” though “that telephone pole really needs to come down.”

“Kitchen – my pride and joy; I redid the entire thing when I moved in – custom cabinetry, island, backsplash, etc.”

“Bathroom – best. tub. ever.”

“Our wine rack – curated lovingly by my boyfriend.”

kerrycontrary March 20, 2012, 2:39 pm
excuse me while I pick my jaw up from the floor.
amazing place!!
Something More March 20, 2012, 2:41 pm
I love your kitchen. That is gorgeous! Everything, really (with the exception of the telephone pole 🙂 )
jaybro March 20, 2012, 2:43 pm
Holy cow!! That KITCHEN!!!
ReginaRey March 20, 2012, 2:51 pm
I almost cried when you said you’re looking for another place! Don’t leave this! It’s too fabulous!
honeybeenicki March 20, 2012, 3:01 pm
When should I move in? I can even take care of plants pretty well 🙂
iseeshiny March 20, 2012, 3:01 pm
Holy bird your place is gorgeous.
bethany March 20, 2012, 3:16 pm
Beautiful! I love the wine rack 🙂
I also love the kitchen and the floors! So pretty!
lets_be_honest March 20, 2012, 3:17 pm
Where did you get the light fixture in the kitchen?
This place is incredible. Nice wine collection!
LANY March 20, 2012, 4:08 pm
The light fixture is left over from the previous owner – sorry I can’t be more helpful, but have no idea where it came from.
silver_dragon_girl March 20, 2012, 3:22 pm
You seem to have a lot of wine bottles cluttering up your place. I could take care of that for you for a very reasonable fee.
Seriously, though, this place looks really nice! I am super jealous 🙂
PFG-SCR March 20, 2012, 3:43 pm
Wow…I absolutely love your place!! Just amazing!!!!
Do you ever just sit in your living room with your boyfriend, look around and say, “Damn, I can’t believe we live here”?
Kristen March 20, 2012, 3:56 pm
I want that tub. (And that kitchen!)
You have a great mix of modern and homey.
Eljay March 20, 2012, 3:58 pm
BEAUTIFUL!!! I’m so jealous of that bathtub. Dare to dream….
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:04 pm
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. One day I hope to have a swanky, modern abode like yours! I love that backsplash. One day, one day.
Budj March 20, 2012, 4:07 pm
I suspect a decline in the submissions after this showing.
PFG-SCR March 20, 2012, 4:25 pm
Haha…that’s what I was thinking! I don’t think my kids’ playset in the backyard is any match for that mountain view.
I do have a huge master bedroom closet, but if I shared a picture, I’d have to clean it up first, but that sounds like too much work just to post one picture.
Budj March 20, 2012, 4:32 pm
haha – I’m definitely not showing anyone my place…the bandroom might be the most interesting one but it doubles as a laundry room and my brother’s gf’s closet…and it is always a mess of cables, amps, and PA stuff.
Lili March 20, 2012, 4:49 pm
So you guys are not a real ‘garage’ band?! Image Shattered.
Just Kidding!
Budj March 20, 2012, 4:52 pm
haha – it is in the basement! which I guess means when it rains we are technically practicing underwater?? yea…I reached for that one…I’m sorry.
Lili March 20, 2012, 4:56 pm
I’m still gonna give it ya. Cuz I like your blue guitar!
Leroy March 21, 2012, 1:06 am
I call bullshit! That place is way too tasteful and subdued for LA.
LANY March 20, 2012, 4:12 pm
Thanks everyone 🙂 I love my place, and do often sit on the couch, look around, and think, “wow, I live here!”… that typically tends to happen around sunset. And when it’s winter in the rest of America.
When we do eventually move, rest assured it will be to a place that is as stylistically wonderful, with the same style — just bigger, and perhaps with an ocean view… I’ll make sure to send an updated submission!
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:26 pm
Are you looking to adopt? Because I’m available.
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:34 pm
I enjoy waking up early and cleaning – I really do. And I am great company to drink wine with. And the drunker I get, the nicer and more lovey-dovey and affectionate I get. Who doesn’t like that?! Just think about it.
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:36 pm
Also, if you’re friends with celebrities or you are one, I’m totally ok with that. I know everything about all celebrities. (And I can spin that fact to sound more endearing and less creepy to your friends.)
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:37 pm
Oh and I’m not a dessert person, so I will never steal your desserts. There, that about covers all my positive attributes.
PFG-SCR March 20, 2012, 4:41 pm
But, are you easy? Budj wants to know.
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:42 pm
Truth: much easier with wine.
bethany March 20, 2012, 4:53 pm
Aren’t we all?
PFG-SCR March 20, 2012, 5:21 pm
Some of us don’t need the wine. 😉
LANY March 20, 2012, 4:42 pm
Addie, you just made my day… though, I actually DO love waking up early and cleaning… as in, my place always looks like that, and I’m actually not that okay with the fact that you can see the remote control sitting on the coffee table.
If you’re ever in LA, let me know…. The weather is much better than in Chicago, though the food — not so much. (I do miss living in Chicago).
PS — Definitely not Jennifer Aniston… though I’m sure the boyfriend wouldn’t mind if I were Angelina…
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:45 pm
What are you saying, you *are* Angelina?! I knew it! Ok, in April I am starting a road trip from Chicago toward San Diego with lots of stops in between. Taking a cue from whomever thought they could find my apartment from the view of my home pictures posted last week, I’ll drive on over to LA and find the house with that view and let’s have some wine on your deck and we can discuss the terms of my adoption. If you insist, I’ll let you do the early morning cleaning.
TaraMonster March 20, 2012, 3:40 pm
I am drooling with envy. My closet sized NYC apartment is starting to grate on my nerves. Plus, I have a weird sort of homesickness for LA. My mother moved out there when I was 13 and I spent a lot of summers and other vacations in Cali. When I was in college I worked at a camp for the blind in Malibu for three months so I am particularly fond of the Santa Monica/Venice area. My brother lives in Pasadena now too. The other day we had some of the year’s first true warm weather and I smelled sun lotion and cigarettes on some dude walking by me- the sensory memory of Cali hit me so hard! It was like I was sitting on Zuma Beach with my boyfriend drinking beer instead holding my lunch on 7th avenue waiting for the walk sign. When I’m in NY I miss Cali, and when I’m there I miss NY. I feel like I can’t win!
LANY March 20, 2012, 4:13 pm
I grew up in and love NY. I love going home to see my parents and friends in NY. I love going to the theatre and restaurants and museums in NY. And my favorite part about going back to NY is when I leave to come home to LA 🙂
Addie Pray March 20, 2012, 4:27 pm
Are you secretly Jennifer Aniston or something?
L March 20, 2012, 4:46 pm
I have MAJOR kitchen envy right now…
Jess of CGW March 20, 2012, 5:06 pm
Love that open staircase. I had an apartment like that in Brussels. The stairs led to a loft bedroom and roof deck. Too bad it was always rainy and cloudy! Great pad. Much jealous!
Wendy March 20, 2012, 4:08 pm
Why, yes, I WILL come over for a glass of wine the nest time I’m in the LA area, thank you.
LANY March 20, 2012, 4:17 pm
Wendy, there is always a glass of wine waiting on the roof deck for you – just let me know!
bethany March 20, 2012, 4:31 pm
Roof Deck?! It just keeps getting better!
Britannia March 20, 2012, 11:15 pm
So… uh… if this is the competition, I’m NEVER submitting my townhouse to the home tours! LANY, your house is sublime 🙂
titian March 21, 2012, 8:11 am
Beautiful! I am so impressed with your wine rack. I can’t even keep one bottle longer than a week, let a lone a whole rack!
lets_be_honest March 21, 2012, 1:11 pm
Buy really really cheap wine that you don’t like and leave a few bottles of those in the rack. That’s what I do. Haha, the good stuff goes before it hits the rack!
MaterialsGirl March 21, 2012, 9:25 am
yeah my place sucks in comparison. watch out, AP!
MsMisery March 21, 2012, 1:09 pm
It’s so grown-up! *weeps*
