Reader of the Week: Meet Bagge72

There was such an overwhelming response when I asked readers to introduce themselves on a weekend open thread that I decided to give you all a weekly column to do just that. I’ve always said this site wouldn’t be what it is without the engagement and participation of its readers and this column is the place to learn more about who you are what makes you tick. After the jump, let’s meet Bagge72.

1. What’s your name, age and whereabouts?

Hi, my name is Chris (Bagge72). I’m 31 and a half as of October 3rd! I’m from Easton, MA but live in Taunton, MA for the time being. I’m hoping to move to Quincy, MA within the next year to be closer to work, and save money on the train.

2. What’s your relationship status?

I am currently engaged to a wonderful redhead, who is incredibly smart, beautiful, funny, and sassy as all hell. We are getting married on 9/07/2012, and we are hoping to go on our honeymoon in Hawaii!

3. How do you spend your weekdays?

I spend my weekdays working in corporate finance for a medical malpractice insurance company in downtown crossing in Boston during the day, and at night if I’m not working my second job at Best Buy, I just started teaching a Mixed Martial Arts Class at the gym I used to fight out of!

4. How do you spend your free time?

My free time is mostly on the weekends, and usually one day, because I’m working at Best Buy either Saturday or Sunday. So usually I start that day with a short run, and then my fiancée and I usually go visit my sister, and our three nieces, because they are the cutest, funniest, most lovable little people that I have ever encountered. Besides that, I love going to new bars/restaurants that sell different types of beer (on a big pumpkin kick right now), playing golf, guitar, or driving around to some of the different historic towns in Mass with my fiance, and just walking around, and taking it all in. I would put reading in here, but I usually do all of that on my 45 minute train ride to, and from work. When I do get an actually whole weekend off I love going to my parents house in NH, going fishing, and boating all weekend.

5. What are your top likes and dislikes?

This is where I get kind manly. ;o) I absolutely love everything about cars and trucks, or anything that can actually go off road, and has a motor. I have been riding dirtbikes ever since I was 6-years-old, and broken a lot of bones doing this, but had a whole lot of fun doing it. I dislike bees (What kind of bees give milk? Boo Bees!), heights, and all condiments, oh and people who eat smelly food on the drain, and chew with their mouths open.

6. What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever been given?

I honestly haven’t gotten a whole lot of relationship advice. Best thing I can think of that I have been told, and it actually works is to always talk about things — don’t wait until they build up, and one of you explodes.

7. What’s the best relationship lesson you’ve ever learned?

That when I’m right DO NOT shove it in her face, haha, because then I just end up losing in the long run!

8. Besides DearWendy.com, what are some of your favorite websites?

I always check espn.com, unlesss the Bruins, Redsox, Celtics, or Patriots lose. I also love happyplace.com, damnyouautocorrect.com, and boston.com

Thanks T.O.M.! That picture was just over a month ago at the phantom gourmet foodfestival which was awesome! I think if my fiance new I put a picture of her up wearing a candy necklace she might have something to say haha. But that is pretty much how she reacts when I try to act tough, because most people think of me as a big teddy bear.

I know I never thought I would like golf either, but I decide at one point in my life to stop doing sports that would hurt me, so I also joined a soft ball league, played pool every tuesday, and joined a bowling league (ah the joys of being single) instead of dirt bike racing, and a tackle football league that didn’t have pads. Then I couldn’t resist pain and went to MMA! Now that my friends are all in there 30’s, married, and have kids the golf course is where we get to hangout, drink beers, and still be home in time for a game night with everyone!

I joined a bowling team post-college swimming (not contact, but still takes it’s toll through “wear-out”) and golf too…haha… Nice pic.

You know I never realized how crazy swimming was and what it did to your body, until I watched a show on Michael Phelps, and all of the calories he has to eat just to maintain his body that way. It was like an Andre The Giant time diet!

Yeah it was pretty awesome, the only bad part was that I had to work after so I couldn’t enjoy the beverages! The dance contest at The House of Blues was hilarious though.

Great Reader of the Week! I enjoyed learning more about you!!

I love that you bring a more masculine voice to DearWendy! Does your fiancée read and/or comment here, too? I agree with TheOtherMe – you two are adorable!

I wish she did read, and comment on here, because I tell her about it all the time, but she usually sticks to reading news articles, healthy recipe’s she can try to fool me into liking or anything sex in the city, Jillian Michael’s, and so you think you can dance!

I just emailed a bunch of my friends the question “what kind of bees give milk.” That was highly entertaining (especially since it pertains to a specific nickname one of those friends assigned me).

Haha that was, and is my sisters favorite joke, and my fiance also gave me a birthday card once before we were even dating with that joke in it, because pretty much everyone knows I fancy the top over the bottom, but by only a small margine!

I had to explain it to at least 2 of the people I sent it to (and when you have to explain a joke, it stops being funny). My mom thought it was great and I’m sure she’s telling her coworkers now.

Yeah I get that face a lot! Sometimes I get some a little more drastic one too, like the other day ( I have know idea why I’m sharing this it is very embarrassing) I was trying to…umm… well I wanted to see if I could get my compression shorts on without having to take off my shorts, and I thought she was brushing her teeth, and flossing, but she came around the corner and caught me. Now I know that may sounds very stupid, and like I’m a meathead, but I like a challenge!

Haha – I need a lot more because this one partner of mine is always saying jokes like this. And I always got nothin’. I just asked him what kind of bees produce milk. He already knew it. He asked for something he didn’t hear like 20 years ago…. See? He’s a hard one to please. So, got anymore?

        OMG so many!
Q: Did you hear about the circus fire? A: It was in tents (intense)
Q: Why did the Cyclops close his school? A: Because he only had one pupil!
Q: What did Ernie say to Bert when he asked him if he wanted any ice-cream A: Sure Bert (sherbet -it is always better if you can do Ernie’s voice)
Q: What has sex like a tiger and winks? A: you wink at the person haha.

        My all-time favorite joke:

Q: “How do you make an elephant fly?”
A: “You take the ‘T’ out of ‘Tree’ and the ‘F’ out of ‘Way'”

It usually takes people some time to think about it before going, “There is no ‘F’ in ‘Way'”

Then, you smile and walk away 😉

      bagge72 October 25, 2011, 2:20 pm

Well I’m actually not upset at all at Tito or Theo for leaving, and the explanation, and the thank you Theo put in the Globe was very nice, thoughtful, and explained a lot so I wish both of those guys well especially Tito he left very classy. I also think it is good for Theo, because he has a lot more control of the Cubs than he had with the Redsox, and doesn’t have to deal with a douche like Larry Lucchino trying to force moves on him. I also think a lot less of owner John Henry after he took over the sports radio station here, and made himself sound like a complete asshat (thanks to the commenter here who gave me that word). As much as I love Chicago, and the Cubby Bear, I still hope for the Cubs to lose, because I am a homer, and only like ons feel good story where a team breaks a curse haha.

      • Valerie October 25, 2011, 3:36 pm

Yeah, I saw Theo’s piece in the Globe and thought it was very nice too. It’s great to hear thoughts from a Red Sox fan’s perspective. I’m also hoping that the Cubs continue with their losing ways (I’m a die hard White Sox fan!) and don’t break the curse of the billy goat anytime soon! It was great seeing the Red Sox’s curse get broken though!!!

Yeah we were actually having a great time with the Cubs fans when we were out there until a couple of them started to make fun of Cam Neely on the night he was getting inducted into the hall of fame then things went down hill! They were generally really good this year when the cubs were in Boston for a series though.

Nice to meet you Chris! I am also an off-roading enthusiast but I prefer 4 wheelers. I am very short so it would be hard for me to ride a dirt bike. I currently ride an ’04 Yamaha Raptor 660. And Pumpkin beer is awesome! Shock Top makes a terrific Pumpkin Ale. Congrats on your wedding!

That’s awesome, I love 4 wheelers aswell, and I think that is probably going to be what I’m going to do next instead of a birt bike! I would also love to get a nice old truck to build for off-roading aswell. That is a pretty bad ass 4 wheeler you have, and a blast to ride!
