Dear Wendy readers are some of the most intelligent, stylish, super cool people around (it’s a proven fact), so, when a commenter suggested I create a regular feature for them to recommend some of their favorite products, it was a no-brainer and Reader Recs was born. Today’s recommendations come from reader Sara, who lives in the Queen Village area of Philadelphia with her very talkative rescue cat. She works in digital marketing for a coffee distribution business and loves being able to walk to work. Some of her favorite things include shopping, cooking, spin class and going to cheap happy hours with friends. Check out her recommendations below!
1. Tarte Cosmetics EmphasEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner – Bronze
I got this as a Christmas gift last year and it has become an obsession. It won’t smudge off but also does come off easily with makeup remover. My favorite part really is the color, the bronze with my hazel eyes really makes them pop and they have a beautiful jade green that I would love to get as well!
2. Luxor Professional The Wet Brush Detangling Shower Brush
This was a recommendation from my hair stylist and according to her the only brush she would suggest using on wet hair as hair is the most fragile when wet. It does seem to have magic detangling powers.
3. Le Creuset 14 Inch Oval Baking Dishes
I have two of these dishes and they are by far among my favorite kitchen items. I use one to cook a protein and the other to roast a veggie; they are great for someone like me who cooks for one, but big enough to cook enough for a couple or family too. Plus they aren’t too big, so they are easy to store!
4. Stella & Dot Rebel Pendant Necklace
I have a lot of random jewelry and, if you asked anyone what my favorite piece is, hands down they would pick this one. I wear it all the time, and when I bought it, I couldn’t believe I had spent so much on a necklace. About a year later it was worth it: people always ask me about it and it gives any outfit a little edge.
5. Philips DS3205 Charging Speaker Dock for iPhone 5/iPod with Lightning Dock
I bought this as a housewarming gift to myself when moving into my own place last year. I use it daily, which is even more than I thought I would, and it’s easy to pop my phone into it just to charge. It has a great sound and can be plugged in or used with batteries for traveling.
Thanks, Sara!

Sara- Why have you never attended a DW Philly Meetup, huh?!
Also, I’ll have to check out the Tarte liner. I have their blush/stain and really like it.
LlamaPajamas April 17, 2014, 4:40 pm
I was wondering the same thing! Sara, come out with us! We’re all likable girls!
lets_be_honest April 17, 2014, 4:43 pm
She’s lying! They stole my purse last time I saw them!
bethany April 17, 2014, 4:50 pm
LBH, you’re all talk!
LlamaPajamas April 17, 2014, 4:53 pm
I didn’t say we don’t steal purses*, I just said we’re likable!

*Sara, we don’t steal purses or anything else. Honest.
lets_be_honest April 17, 2014, 4:54 pm
Haha, fair point.

I have the Tarte liner in that jade green color and do like it, though not quite as much as my potted liner by Stila. Something about the color didn’t make my (also hazel) eyes pop as much as I had hoped. But maybe I need to try the bronze one! I will pretty much use any excuse to buy something by Tarte – their cheek and lip stains are the best!

We clearly have more Philly DWers than I thought! We’ll have to plan a city meetup soon.
GatorGirl April 17, 2014, 8:22 pm
Yes! I’ll be there next month!!
lets_be_honest April 17, 2014, 4:13 pm
I’ll second the Wet Brush. A friend recommended it to me and I got myself and Lil one each. They’re great.
P.S. Our head massage things came last night! I wish I video’d the orgasm sounds coming from my family. Lil now has another way to earn her allowance…
lets_be_honest April 17, 2014, 4:56 pm
Also, I’m pretty sure I put the wet brush on my extremely long list to Wendy. I wish I could have a daily reader rec 🙁

Anyone try fabletics or darby smart?
mylaray April 17, 2014, 6:20 pm
I bought a bunch of stuff from fabletics a few months ago. I don’t even really work out but since they offer that deal the first time, I thought why not. I love wearing yoga pants and leggings around the house at night and they’ve been perfect for that. I really like the fit and material on the long sleeve shirts. Very comfy.

Does the wet brush work well with color treated hair? Ever since I started getting highlights, my hair has been getting really knotty.
lets_be_honest April 17, 2014, 5:40 pm
I would guess so, but not sure.
kare April 17, 2014, 8:13 pm
Yes, it does. I recently dyed my hair and the wet brush is the only brush I use. It has really made a difference. I also use Trader Joe’s PH balancing shampoo which seems to be helping. Oh and argan oil. (I got the Mystic Divine Nourishing Oil Treatment from Sally’s when I bought my wet brush.)

I would love to come to a Philly meet up! I was thinking about the last one but i couldnt make it work with my schedule and driving out of the city. I would most definitely love to join the next one though 🙂
LlamaPajamas April 17, 2014, 4:44 pm
We should definitely do a city meetup soon!
bethany April 17, 2014, 4:50 pm
YES! May or June, for sure, so we can drink outside.
sararosie43 April 17, 2014, 4:54 pm
Yes! Have you heard about the new beer garden they are setting up by independence mall? 6th and market st which is right in between my work and home haha. I am also hoping they re-open the one on broad st from last summer.
bethany April 17, 2014, 4:59 pm
Sounds good to me! I like anywhere with beer that’s close to the train (cause I live in the ‘burbs)
LlamaPajamas April 17, 2014, 5:00 pm
WHAT?! want to go!

I might have to try out that Wet Brush. I have really thick hair that’s as long as it will ever be (apparently the bottom of my shoulder blades is as far as my hair is willing to travel), but it’s frizzy and blonde and gets tangly easy and I’m always looking for a better way to brush it when it’s wet. I get paid tomorrow, so I know what I’m buying 🙂
Lyra April 17, 2014, 5:37 pm
I think I need to try out that brush too…
Addie Pray April 17, 2014, 9:47 pm
Confession! (Are we still doing that?). I checked into a hotel bc of paint fumes and no bed or TV and Moose is sick so there, we went next door to a hotel, and I ate my weight in pizza then went to the Wallgreens and bought sour cream and onion Ruffles – I’m out of control. And so that’s my confession. Also that I need that brush. Also I’ve had two glasses of wine yet it feels like 5 glasses of wine.
*
I think I’m gonna puke.
*
Moose is sick you guys and it breaks my sour cream and onion heart.
Addie Pray April 17, 2014, 9:53 pm
Also, random deep thought: have you noticed that when Sarah Michelle Gellar talks, her voice sounds like she has a stuffy nose? There’s something stuffy about it. (I’m watching some new TV show she’s on with Robin Williams and brother Robert from “everybody lives Raymond”
*
Oh also I saw him (Robert) – Garrett what? – at brunch. He was with this hot skinny young thang. They were canoodling.
*
I also want that docking station.
Addie Pray April 17, 2014, 9:59 pm
Also Moose’s balls are kind of impressive. They’re like firm ripe cherry tomatoes. His brother boo only has one ball – the other never descended – and it’s more like a cran-raisin. Go Moose go!
Jess April 18, 2014, 2:49 pm
Go Philly!!
P.S. I started a little list of my own pics to send Wendy but I keep tweaking it and never sending (story of my life).
