Dear Wendy readers are some of the most intelligent, stylish, super cool people around (it’s a proven fact), so, when a commenter suggested I create a regular feature for them to recommend some of their favorite products, it was a no-brainer and Reader Recs was born. Today’s recommendations come from CSP (Caroline), who has already shared some of her favorites in one of the most popular Reader Recs so far. CSP lives in suburban Philadelphia with her husband of 7 years. She’s an IT recruiter who loves playing tennis, traveling near and far, and undertaking DIY home projects. Her favorite pastime is being a tourist in her own town. Keep reading for a few more of CSP’s favorite things.
When I was working retail, someone recommended these to me, and they are excellent for aching feet. They stretch your toes apart and stretch your feet and shins. If you wear tight high heels, it gives relief and can help with bunions. There are a bunch of brands on Amazon. These are $36 but they go as low as $10, depending on the vendor.
So, this little device is for cleaning the inside of your windshield. I have short arms and hate when the inside of the car gets dirty. This is easy to use and limits streaks. The pad on it can be washed in the washing machine. Honestly, it makes life so much easier.
Wen Conditioning Rinse
Have you seen the infomercial for this? It’s on every day. I finally tried it after three people recommended it, and I am a total convert. You can wash your hair every day without drying it out. I have coarse, wavy hair and I was told over and over to not wash it every day, but how can you do that when you work out?! This you can use every day. Also, once I started using this, I didn’t need to put conditioner and straightener in my hair. It doesn’t lather and that gets some getting used to, but your hair is squeaky clean when you are done. I suggest buying it on Amazon because you don’t have the auto renewal and you can try it without commitment.
These might sound silly but hear me out. Ever get a pedicure in cold weather and then your feet get cold? Well, bring these to the salon and put them on before your toes are painted. Then, the rest of your feet stay warm. I know, first world problems but still. These are also great for those sock buns when you want to make one.
Knockoff Clarisonic/ Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System
This Olay brush is like the Clarisonic but cheaper. It makes your skin so light and smooth. Seriously, all the dead skin just comes off. This is battery-operated and can be used in the shower. A year after I got this, I was gifted the Clarisonic which is also great and rechargeable. But I would say the Olay one is a good option when you don’t want to spend $150.
Baron Baptist hot Yoga DVD
This video is an oldie but a goodie. I owned this on VHS and then bought it again on DVD. This is a hot yoga and, when you are done, it makes your lower back feel like it is floating on your body. This is for someone who has done yoga before and is confident with the Sun Salutation. Baron Baptiste is one of the top yoga instructors, and I highly recommend it if you have tight hips.
If you have some products you’d like to recommend to the DW audience, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with links to five recommendations (write “reader recs” in the subject line, please). Your recommendations can be from any store or website, but they need to be accessible online — and I would love it if at least two items could be found on Amazon where I am an affiliate. If your list is a good fit for the site, I’ll ask you to write a brief description of each item/explain what you love so much about it.
