Dear Wendy readers are some of the most intelligent, stylish, super-cool people around (it’s a proven fact), so it’s a no-brainer to feature some of their favorite products. Many of the recommended products happen to be affiliate products, which means I’ll receive a commission on any click-throughs or purchases you make through the affiliate links. As always, I appreciate your support! Today’s recommendations come from “TheHizzy,” who is a 30-year-old engineer. She was born in the Midwest and currently lives in Dallas, Texas, with one tuxedo cat who talks more than anyone she knows. She works full time, and she coaches at her gym twice a week. The Texas heat is in full effect and she can’t wait for it to cool off already, so come quickly October!!
Here are her recommendations:
I work in a male-dominated field and notice that I don’t ever find good dress style pants. My job requires me to be able to climb a roof, meet vendors, and talk to CEO level people on a daily basis. I hated not having good pants with pockets until I found these Dickie’s Pants. It was recommended I order a size up, and I’m glad I did. They are a little long but have FOUR POCKETS! There are two in the front and two in the back, any of which can hold my cell phone. I call this a win in my book. They run a little long, so a hem might be needed if you’re a little shorter.
At my gym I like using a good minimal shoe with great traction. I am now on my second pair of these awesome New Balance Trail Running shoes. The first ones were needing to be retired after four years. I don’t do trail running in my new ones, but I did so a few times in my first pair. The traction is extra grippy, and I felt pretty safe scaling rocks and jumping over obstacles. I love them for my gym now, and we run out on pavement.
On nights that I have had a struggle to fall asleep I hated taking pills to help. I found this Neuro that really helps me. I drink only about 1/3 of a bottle, and then a half hour later I am yawning and ready to hit the sack. I don’t feel groggy in the morning like I would taking a melatonin pill or sleep aids. I buy this by the case when I can find it. It’s sold online and in grocery stores. While it’s a melatonin-based drink, it has some extra supplements in it that help that day-after grog.
We are all hooked to our cell phones! My phone is required for work and it can eat through battery like Christmas cookies. I carry one of these portable Anker chargers with me at all times. I have three that I rotate through. They each give just over one full charge from 10%-100%, and, when I took them with me to a festival weekend, I never went without juice for my phone! They are nice and compact, and they fit in my purse without taking up more than minimal space. I can’t say enough good things about how these have saved me!
So, between working out in my New Balance and sleeping with my Neuro, I do daily active “recovery” with some compression socks from Fytto. They keep the blood flowing through my lower half, they are compression but not too tight, and my legs love them. I don’t feel as tired in my legs when I do wear them. They are a bit warm to wear (I’m in Texas), but I notice a difference in fatigue when I don’t wear them. I have several colors. They recommend you don’t wash them after EACH use to save the compression, so I wear three pairs a week. I even sneak these under my jeans when going out in the winter time here. Makes it easier to dance all hours of the night!
