There is no circumstance or excuse which makes his reaction normal or okay. If it seems normal to you, you should figure out why — but that’s a you problem.

To be perfectly clear: nice people do not criticize you when THEIR plans don’t go as they had hoped. They don’t curse and call you disgusting when you try to make the best of it.

You could both have had a good laugh and a “duh” moment about him not realizing he should have planned for socks (and mittens? Don’t skate without something on your hands). Instead he was a royal jerk over something insanely trivial.
