I’m wondering why you didn’t mention talking to him about this at all in the past eight years. You’ve tried that, right? Try that!

I don’t understand why you have a shared joint account in the first place. Separate your finances. If you’re not in love with the loaf, then address that. Why does he have a new car? That wasn’t a conversation? It seems you have serious communication issues.
