GuestMy bf sent me a pic of an online order. I did notice that there was an item of clothing for a woman on the order. It was wasn’t for me. It was for his ex sister in law. It was for her birthday but they haven’t had a good relationship for a while and all off a sudden you felt like you WANTED to get her a gift. Am I being petty regarding this, but I do feel 1) clothing is very personal gift 2) I had no idea that they close again 3) if you didn’t send me the pic you wouldn’t have even told me?

KeymasterYes, that’s very weird.

KeymasterTo clarify, it’s super weird if it is for his ex sister in law, like… that makes no sense. More likely it’s for someone else.
Seriously when guys start doing shit that doesn’t fit the pattern, something’s usually up.

GuestThanks Kate. Feels like I’m losing my mind. Been busy trying to make sense of it, been also trying to make an excuse for it so that I can say I’m being unreasonable about it. But nothings making it right in my eyes.

KeymasterIt makes me think of this guy I was dating long distance, and once when I visited there were earrings on his nightstand. I was like, whose earrings are these? He first said his sister! I was like, okay, do you think that makes sense? Your sister visited and slept in your bed? And I kept just asking him how he thought this looked, and why he thought it made sense that they’d be his sister’s. Then he blurted out that they belonged to “Natalie.” I was like ok who the fuck is Natalie? He had a little niece named Nathalie. He said she was someone from “the club.” Which didn’t really make sense either but at least was in the right wheelhouse. I got in my car and drove all the way back home. I felt like, how on earth did he not realize those were there and get rid of them? I think he wanted to be caught, which is what I’d think if my boyfriend sent me a pic of his online order with women’s clothing in it that wasn’t for me. Unless I guess he secretly wears Womens clothing?

GuestI’m sorry to hear about your story. But it does sometimes seem like they are too coward to be honest and want to actually get caught.
Haha I think if he said he liked to wear women’s clothing it may make a bit more sense to me 🙈🤣

ParticipantYou’re boyfriend is being both sus as hell and also an idiot. Nobody buys clothes for their ex-sister-in-law. It would be weird to buy clothes for a current sister-in-law. I think he just blurted out the first woman he thought of.

ParticipantSo I once legit ordered a sweater online by accident (like added something to my cart & purchased it alongside other intended items without noticing until it arrived), but it’s not a mistake if he’s saying it’s for his ex-SIL and YES, that’d be weird.
I’ve had a couple boyfriends cheat and I’ve heard some really weird lies and excuses (some of which in hindsight were hilariously bad and I can now laugh about ’em). And I’ve done the excuse making when I didn’t want something to be true, just for that feeling to keep on nagging. But no, this doesn’t add up.

GuestThe strangest thing is why her bf sent her the pic of the incriminating order. Did he want to precipitate a breakup?
WhyDoWeExist?
GuestI too find it strange that he showed you the receipt. Seems like he wants to be caught.

GuestI think they like the rush of “Will I be caught? Will she say anything or just take it?”
Don’t take it.

ParticipantI think some people prefer the cowardly way out of relationships and yeah, want to be caught so that the other person ends things. Others I do believe are that dumb.
