    The weekend this is kinda weird. The first weekend was fourth of july, totally get being busy. The next weekend he was visiting his folks. Okay. The third weekend his folks were visiting him. Okay. This past weekend he had friends coming from out of town.

    So it does make me wonder if he’s telling the truth ( I have zero reason to believe he isn’t) or if he just doesn’t want to see me on weekends etc. I don’t know.

    I like all of the above options.

    I think if you frame it as “friendship or something more?” you may not get the clarity you want. It’s probably not “friendship,” and the “something more” is such an amorphous zone that could mean so many things. He could cop out and say “something more” without defining what that is, so I think you want to go at this a little more focused.

    It’s summer… travel months… I think those all sound like legitimate plans.

    @Kate so yes I think you’re right to lay it out there and say I’m looking for a relationship eventually and if you’re not into that, that’s cool.

    @ktfran
    that’s why I haven’t really had any reason not to believe him. I think he’s just keeping himself busy, which I also do when single.

    He totally is… that’s why I think you should have an upcoming weekend event planned or ready to suggest. Get it on his calendar early!

    well I can always throw out that homecooked meal and movie for this weekend. Those were two of his three options that would really be better on a weekend rather than a weeknight anyway.

    Yes! Do it.

    You can see the Navy Pier fireworks from this dude’s apartment, so Wednesday, that’s our date. We’re going to watch the sunset/fireworks. Romantic. And a little gross.

    We made out last night… so there’s a very good chance it will happen Wednesday as well.

    Ahh… don’t be. We’ve known each other for a while. We work together and flirted at the last holiday party. It took him until now to finally get the nerve to ask me out.

    Luckily, our respective work groups don’t hang out, so there is no overlap.

    The fireworks sound romantic ktfran! Nothing wrong with an old school romantic date. 🙂

    I’m just going to live vicariously through this thread. I’m still heartbroken after being stood up on my birthday apparently. I thought I’d get over it, but over a month later and I’m still really sad about the whole thing. Just thinking about dating fills me with dread. My friend circle is also pretty fed up with my spinster hood and everyone keeps telling me I just need to get back out there and that I shouldn’t have gotten so attached to my guy friend in the first place (even though he told me he was falling in love with me). I’m trying to do things to make myself happy, so hopefully I’ll move on at my own pace. My only other single friend (he’s asexual), and I are planning a trip to Iceland for next year! I’ve never been on more than a cruise, so I’m really excited!!!
