    @Hizzy – I hope you’re feeling better.
    Consider registering for tools if you don’t have a good hammer, set of wrenches, cordless drill, cordless screwdriver, etc.

    My sister and BIL registered for a fancy toaster oven. That thing has been doing it’s magic in their house for 10 years now. Totally worth it. They are also enamored by their more recent gift of an air fryer.

    – I read once that when models would have to do outdoor photo shoots in the winter they would suck on an ice cube before the photos so their breath wouldn’t be seen by the camera. Go for timeless clothing. A freshly pressed button down shirt, pair of khakis – cool shoes will look super. Or whatever makes you happy. Seriously whatever makes you happy.

    Oh yea tools is a good one!

    OH I didn’t know about the ice cube thing. That’s cool. Ya I am excited about what I chose. I think what I figured out I won’t freeze too much. Excited to get some good pics done though. I think we were talking here the other day about how few we take. Finally i said we are actually doing some good ones so I can’t bitch about everything being wrong with it since I was just holding my phone doing it myself. Told husband that if a huge snow storm could pop in on Sat and be gone by Monday morning that would be great for pics.

    Thanks for all the registry ideas! I *AM* feeling LOADS better but still not 100%. It’s seriously amazing what just blowing your nose will do on those “meh” days!

    I think we’re going to start some this weekend. We are normally the “hosting house” for stuff so things to help us host is a great idea! FMH lost all his tools in his divorce many moons ago and never got to replace them. There’s some things we need. Great ideas outside of the norm! I never would have thought of it! It feels strange to think people are wanting to buy us stuff, we really just want them to come and have a great time at the wedding.

    Anyone planning a wedding I’ve been using the Zola website and it even estimates how much you should have on your registry. Pretty helpful!

    Maybe a silly question, but what does it mean to decide how much you should have on your registry? Is there a “right” amount?

    @Copa it is like “How many guests do you have?” and then tells you price ranges for items….like 100 items under $50, 20 items $51-100 and stuff like that. Not sure how accurate it is!

    So I met BG’s mom’s side of the family at their holiday get-together over the weekend. His mom has five siblings and they were all there with their spouses, lots of cousins, cousins’ spouses, and a bunch of kids. Everyone was nice but it was a bit overwhelming to meet so many people at once. Joke’s on me for feeling like I was bringing him around all my friends and he wasn’t bringing me around anyone, ha!

    I am SUPER swamped at work this month, and I’m reallllly excited to take some time off soon, and hopefully enjoy some of that time off with BG!

    That’s exciting @copa!

    I finally get to meet FMH cousins face to face. I’ve met his brother, sisters, parents and a niece. They don’t live in the same place as where he used to. We fly out tomorrow and by 1 pm I’ll have met them all! It’s exciting and slightly nerve racking at the same time.

    Yah for that going well @copa. I feel for people meeting my huge Italian family.

    @TheHizzy
    hope you are feeling better.

    We got in early with fertility doctor woohoo. See them Monday. Not thinking anything is wrong with me but before we do surgery on husband want to make sure all is good with me, since we pay out of pocket for the surgery. Plus if we need it after his surgery we are now in which can take a lonngggg time. They even managed to get insurance to cover the appointment, which is nice since it’s almoay $1000 just for the initial appointment. We weren’t expecting that but it’s a nice surprise. Put me in a more positive mood as far as his all goes.

    Ha. My dad’s side of the family is pretty big (my dad has just as many siblings as BG’s mom — I have WAY more cousins but none of mine have reproduced yet), so I know if he ever comes out to California with me to meet them, he’ll be subjected to the same chaos. I texted my sister from the bathroom that night to say, “Can you imagine meeting Dad’s side of the family all at once? Cause that’s basically what I’m doing,” and she laughed.

    @copa I look forward to hearing his reaction to that. I so love the huge family gatherings but it is always a bit funny to see people adjust. My aunts new boyfriend (now husband) pulled out a printed list with peoples names and how they were related to who. We cracked up. He still keeps it with him. Heck, he had some of the info better than we did. I call my aunts but they are my moms cousins not actually my aunts. My uncle Tom is my moms uncle. Papa is whoever your papa is, but that’s grandfather not father. We all do this and actually explaining the true relation to people is confusing at best. Plus they are all named Mike or Joe or John or some form of it. Big Mike, Big Joe, Mickey, Mikey, Michael John. haha. People get so confused. I always compare my family to the wedding in Goodfellas. So many people and all the same name.

    BG’s SIL said that the first time she met BG’s sister it was a group situation with family and non-family thrown in the mix, and she kept wondering, “Whose sister is this? Who does this woman belong to?” She was too embarrassed to ask. (I, on the other hand, have no problem asking early on for reminders of how people are related, or joking that I’ll need a family tree to help me out.)

    @JD I feel about 98%, FMH got what I had and he’s about 90% so we’re almost back to normal! I just have this pesky cough that won’t go away. I don’t think I’ve ever blown my nose so much!!!

    He keeps telling me I’m not ready to meet his family just because it’s going to be overwhelming. I’m not too worried, more excited. It’ll go how it’s supposed to! I told him this trip is to be 100% figured out by him and I’m along for the ride. The first few times I took him home it was like that. His cousins all are about 8-15 years older than me so it’ll be different than my cousins who are all within 5 years of each other.

    I would never expect anyone to remember everyone’s names and relations after one meeting for sure! I often remind FMH that “That’s Sally who is wife of Bob who is my dad’s brother.” To help out.

    I’m seeing his grandma again who doesn’t speak English, so that will be the most fun.
