    I’m a 2 cup a day person. I think the morning routine will be hard. I’m so used to it.

    “We are about to get snow. You’d think a blizzard was coming the way people are trashing through the grocery stores”

    Yeah, this is always funny. People flooding into Trader Joe’s to wrestle over the last Tandoori chicken.

    @thehizzy lovely photos!

    It’s been snowing a lot where I am (central Europe) and Banjo and I are about to go for a forest walk to see all the trees covered 🙂 Want to try cross country skiing sometime soon too!

    @copa you are making me curious about whole30 – I could definitely benefit from finding out what foods I’m intolerant or somewhat intolerant too. But I’m starting a new job Feb 1st (woo!) and my new office has free lunch in the cafeteria/buffet. I want to get to know people and I assume lunch is a good way to do that so I doubt I can make it work right now.

    Fyodor We were filling our big water jugs and there were about five people in line waiting. It’s not the apocalypse people. You won’t be without water. Funny more because people live in this snow so it’s not a surprise. I did guess that they wanted to get it done Friday afternoon to cozy in for the weekend. Husband works half days Fridays so that’s always our errand time, when we usually can avoid the crowds. So many years working a flexible schedule I seriously cannot handle the insanity of a weekend grocery store run, don’t even get me started on Costco. This is also why my favorite time to go to Target is right when they open at 8, grab a coffee and walk the aisles free of the craziness. Would actually enjoy that today but zero desire to drive in the snow. Both our cars are RWD. Can’t wait for our new cars soon enough when I’ll have my AWD (or better yet for those who know what it is, Quattro).

    There was one time actually that we were without water. We were staying at a rental house with friends at the beach in MA when a hurricane hit, and I guess the groundwater knocked out the pump that provided water to the house. So there was no running water at all. We had about 1000000 gallons of booze and one case of bottled water. And we had to go get a pan of water from the pool and pour it into the toilet tank in order to flush. We couldn’t shower, and I hadn’t washed my hair in a few days and felt gross. The guys were trying to fix the pump and the women went into town to drink on the deck at the seafood shanty. I started looking for a spa. I found one and got the lady to give me a blowout and she let me wash up in the bathroom. I also bought a new outfit off a mannequin. When we went to the club later, everyone was amazed, like how in the hell do you look like that?!

    First world problems.

    Of course you looked fantastic post spa and blowout. I’d look like a drowned rat. Haha. I for sure her fear of no water but we are getting 3” so it was funny. We got 13 not too long ago and all were fine, and I burned almost 800 calories shoveling snow, but couldn’t move my arms the next day. I think son will be shoeveling this am since he didn’t turn his homework in the other day.

    It does occasionally happen in a snowstorm too that power and water get knocked out, but if the forecast is 3”, come on, no. People like to get worked up about it.

    Ya we actually double checked the weather wondering if we didn’t hear something about it being bigger.

    I lived in DC for ten years and everyone there would completely lose their sh*t at the first hint of snow. People would be flooding the stores to by toilet paper and emergency supplies. It was like a scene from a 70s disaster movie.

    I’m in Ontario, Canada, where people hear a blizzard is coming and go, shit, guess I should get up 10 minutes earlier so I can dig my car out before I go to work. I’d rampage grocery stores before a hurricane, though. I always see footage of people in Florida refusing to leave their homes while the governor tells them this one’s a killer and I’m just amazed. I’d be first in my car on my way out of state.

    I watched this woman on the news during the last storm saying “oh they always say it’ll be bad, it never is”. Two days later he house is gone. ??‍♀️ I don’t comprehend the logic.

    @Lucia_la If your new company has a salad bar option, you can make it work! It’s pretty restrictive, but in situations where my options are more limited or not entirely within my control (e.g., work lunches or dinners, or if I go out), I do my best and move on. Before starting, I’d gotten to the point where I was taking Prilosec almost daily. I’ve only taken it twice since starting, each pill a week apart. Hoping to need it only sparingly if at all by the end of this, and to know which food triggers that issue.

    I live in an area with cold winters and snow. I feel like every time we’re expecting Snowmaggedon, it never happens. It’s never as bad as forecasted. I know that’s not true everywhere (like Boston), but in my experiences, it’s never been that bad and has always been manageable. There was one storm we were expecting when I was in law school (Midwest but different state from where I am now) and the stores had been ransacked by the time I got there. I think the university called a snow day. Shit shut down in anticipation. We got like 3″ or something.
