Been following on, but haven’t had much of a chance to comment, so everything is a little belated. Happy birthday ktfran! Hope everyone has a great time on their trips/doing the trip planning. I am sorry to hear about your sister Ale, but I’m glad that it’s relatively early on.
I have to return the desk decorations discussion. I feel weird that I haven’t put up my any photos and barely decorated other than diplomas. It’s mostly out of laziness and I should put up some art. Ultimately it’s a know your workplace thing!
Also I think I told my boss about my boyfriend almost two years in when he invited me and a guest to a work adjacent event. It never really came up in conversation. I suspected he knew but I felt weird for not mentioning my boyfriend before. I think I used the royal we a lot. My coworkers around my age knew fairly early on, partly because they are nosy in a friendly but annoying way and I’m bad at lying. They asked me lots of personal questions when I was single and dating. They share a lot too so I feel I have to share some tidbits.
My boyfriend and I are going to the Dominican with his friends in February for a week. I’m looking forward to it because I’ve never done a resort trip and it’ll be fun. I realize now though just with timing and all it’ll be hard to do a longer trip with my boyfriend this year. Our longest trip so far is five days.
Things are still going well with me and my bf. I’ve always had nosebleeds but due to some medication they’ve been happening more and he’s been a real champ through it all, because even though I’m not phased by my own blood, it’s not the most pleasant!January 15, 2020 at 1:26 pm #872162CopaParticipant
So I used the royal we a lot at work when referring to my boyfriend before he came up, and I truly think my coworkers assumed I was using “we” to refer to me and my dog every time. LOL.
Also regarding trips, I’ve now started getting quite a few “omg you’re going to get ENGAGED IN HAWAII” comments from friends. I’m not and I know I’m not because we’ve discussed timelines, he knows I’m not there yet, but people keep insisting I’m lying or wrong.January 15, 2020 at 1:48 pm #872164FyodorGuest
People should mind their own business.January 15, 2020 at 2:19 pm #872166veritek33Participant
@Copa that happened a lot to me last year. And we knew his sister was getting engaged so we were trying to wait until after she got engaged to move forward with our engagement. But people were SO INSISTENT that he was going to propose over Christmas and I was 1000% positive that was not happening.
Just ignore them and then they’ll be super surprised when do you get engaged some day.January 15, 2020 at 4:49 pm #872190AleMember
I’m doing great! After my last romantic failure I haven’t dated at all, that would be approximately 8 months I guess? Been asked a couple times and sometimes I miss the getting ready for a date part, getting to know someone but I definitely don’t miss the games and the lies and the bullshit. So, there’s that.
Copa, it’s good that you have your timelines clear and don’t listen to intruders. Sometimes expectations are created based on what other people are doing or saying come and it ends up happening like our friend in the advice forum that cried all night after getting engaged.January 18, 2020 at 4:04 am #872570TheLadyEGuest
@Ale – so good to hear you are doing so well! I have totally been there. I took multiple breaks in dating after being let down and it was such a relief to clear my mind and not have to worry about it. 🙂
Funny dating story to start the weekend: after dinner out the other night, my boyfriend & I stopped at Target because they have his absolute favorite ice cream: Ben & Jerry’s non-dairy 7-layer coconut bar. He LOVES the stuff. I prefer the peanut butter & chocolate non-dairy one, but I am prepared to stock his favorite constantly in my freezer for him. During our Target run, he stopped to get fiber powder and shampoo for dry, itchy scalp. We determined that this is the definition of Real Love, lol.
It seems silly but like I said, this is the best relationship I’ve ever been in. I’ve never gotten close enough to a man to know he has dry, itchy scalp sometimes. Heh. <3January 18, 2020 at 10:02 am #872592
Haha, wait until he has to buy you pantiliners.
Ok, but seriously though, what shampoo does he have in his shower?January 18, 2020 at 10:41 am #872597ktfranParticipant
Lol. Speaking of pantiliners, my cousin’s husband had to pick me tampons a few years ago while I was visiting. I had to send a pic of the box. Good times.January 18, 2020 at 11:19 am #872600
Sometimes in CVS he’ll be like, “do you need pantiliners?” And I’ll be like, “PANTILINERS! YES!”
Also, for fun, I’ll ask him what a tampon is vs. a pantiliner.January 18, 2020 at 11:26 am #872601FyodorGuest
I am sometimes sent with vague instructions and have to have conversations where it am loudly relaying my wife’s questions/instructions to the Walgreen’s employee and passing them back over the phone.January 18, 2020 at 11:40 am #872602
That aisle is totally overwhelming even when you know what you’re looking for.January 18, 2020 at 11:46 am #872603FyodorGuest
I think that the worst experience was buying pinworm medication for my daughter. I was sure everyone was judging me.
