    And?

That’s definitely one of the more inane/pointless text convos I’ve seen.

Link comes up as malware on my computer so I’d recommend not clicking it to anyone else.

Well on the subject of dating/relationships, I went home last Friday (I think?) to have a bit more privacy for a teletherapy call, check on my place, and give BG and I small break from 24/7 togetherness. When I came back to his place on Saturday, he’d done a little organizing and found a home for a few of my cookbooks that have made their way here. (Months ago, when we were first talking about moving in together, I made an offhand remark about where I thought my cookbooks could fit. He remembered.) It’s not my first choice to move into his bachelor pad when we take that step, but it’s the option that makes most sense for us, and I really appreciate the small gestures that show me he’s willing to make his place ours instead expecting me to fit into his life and place as it is.

I had my first in-person COVID date with my boyfriend today. We met up at a local art museum that has a walking trail and I brought my dogs to see their dad. We both wore masks and he wore gloves, and we didn’t hug or kiss or touch. It was hard, but he’s SO worried about me getting the virus.

My girls LOST IT when they realized who he was (he had on a mask so it took them a second). They got so excited that one of them actually peed on his jeans (not sure which one, ack!). I’ve never seen them so happy. They were smiling the ENTIRE time we were with him, those big toothy dog smiles, and just staring at him in adoration. My girls love their dad. <3

We haven’t seen each other in 5 weeks so I did a full face of makeup and styled my hair even though I was in yoga pants and sneakers to walk around. He kept complimenting me, because he knew I did it for him so I wouldn’t look like a bridge troll. I brought some beers and we sat in the parking lot 6 feet apart drinking beer and watching a thunderstorm roll in. It was so sweet.

@TheLadyE That’s very sweet! It must be hard not to touch, though. Like even being able to hug my boyfriend on a daily basis feels like a big deal to me right now. But, it must’ve been great to see each other in person. And yes, happy pups freaking out over their people is so fun.

Also, kinda happy to report that all this time, when I’ve gotten ready — not all dolled up, but just put in some effort — it really HAS been for me and not for others, which is one thing I’ve learned about myself during quarantine. Haha.

Hilarious. But, TheLadyE, as I read this it took me a very LONG moment to realize/remember your girls were DOGS. I was like — what? They peed on his leg? Huh? How? (Beat.). …Oooooooh.

@BGM Lol!! Sorry. I did say “dogs” in the first paragraph to try to clear that up. I’m a dog mom, probably will never have human children. 🙂 My boyfriend is great with them though. He was great with my first little girl dog too. I would come out of the bathroom to find her in his lap after 2 months. That was UNHEARD of with my former boyfriends. So sweet.

@Copa, I will say I’ve been leaving my face free of makeup for myself, to be honest. I like makeup and expressing myself that way, but it’s been freeing to not have to do it every day. I still shower every day, shave, and wash my hair every 3-4 days (1-2 days longer than normal). I put on cute yet comfy outfits to video chat my boyfriend and professional yet comfy outfits if I’m going on camera for work. I have spent so many years taking an hour to get ready for work that it’s nice to be able to take a quick shower, use dry shampoo, put on yoga pants and just work and then walk my girls (dogs!) right after I’m done. 🙂

Now I’m thinking about trying to arrange a game night between me, my boyfriend, and two other couples including my best friend and her husband. If we weren’t in quarantine I would be having a game night at my house. I hope it works. And damn, I miss performing comedy. 🙁

Aw that is a very cute date LadyE!I’m so glad you could see each other in person.

I’ve been going make up free except for work calls. I can’t say my skin is a lot better but I can’t really justify using it. Maybe some concealer under my eyes! Haven’t been sleeping the best, ugh.

A “nice” thing that has come out from quarantine. If we are feeling uninspired, but my boyfriend will eat my weirdo put together lunches if I were by myself, e.g., salad and a protein leftover/eggs/hummus. I still like to “feed him well” when he’s here even though he’s barely a guest. I mean have relatively normal meals — we cook together for the most part so I don’t mean I am cooking for him haha. Still this quarantine has created some interesting meals and he’s been cool with it.

Makeup is definitely a personal choice! I find I do want to wear it daily, but it’s pretty light. Bb cream, tinted lip balm, for example, instead of primer, foundation, lipstick. My skin is good in terms of not being broken out, clogged, sensitive, or irritated, but I feel I need makeup to look alive, and to feel like a person in the world.

I remember as a kid, my mom would put some cream blush on me in the winter before school so I didn’t look malnourished / uncared for.

Oh, don’t get me wrong — if ya wanna get made up, make yourself up. If you wanna give your skin a break, give your skin a break. I was listening to a podcast the other day and the host was basically like, “All these years when I’d put myself together I’d tell people I was doing it for me, but now that we’re in the middle of COVID-19, I’ve never looked worse, my hair has never been dirtier. So it turns out it was never for me.” It made me laugh. I remember my dad once asked if I’d curled my hair for the family on a day we didn’t have much going on, and I shrugged and said it was something I did for myself. And now that I don’t HAVE to do my hair or make-up or pull myself together, I find I still do it fairly often, even if there are no work video calls that day. To each their own.

    @hfantods
BG thinks some of my leftover meals are weird. Haha. I have a high tolerance for eating the same thing on repeat, but am also pretty good at giving my leftovers glow ups so I don’t waste food or feel like it’s exactly the same thing for a week straight. Left to our own devices, I’m more likely to get creative with leftovers, he’s more likely to throw a frozen pizza in the oven.
