@MG, I had my first PT apt. last night with the woman your PT recommended. I like her. She’s friendly and really listened. I’m already feeling a little better and we have a treatment plan.

But my body is so tired today.

    Thank you!!

Hooray @ktfran! I’m so glad to hear it. I’m four to six weeks away from getting back into PT.

Damn, Kate, I just looked at the Dyson and I WANT it, but that price tag is too steep for my blood. I think. I do have to spend something like $290 more this year to get to Diamond status at Ulta (2020 has been such a shitshow and I haven’t been buying as much makeup) soooo…hmmmm…

…I should not be thinking about this. I legit never straighten my curly hair.

If you’re happy with your curly hair, you don’t need it!

I used to be able to wear my natural curls when I was 1) a teen and everyone had perms and used mousse, 2) in my 20s when I had a shorter cut with layers.

It just doesn’t work for me now. It takes forever to dry and I’m not happy with how it looks and would have to touch it up with a curling iron anyway. And I’m not willing to commit to the curly girl method and never use heat. That method looks like a part-time JOB honestly.

I like blowouts, and this thing replaces blowouts for me. It can straighten, wave, and curl. The money is nothing compared to what I spent on weekly blowouts.

But again, you don’t need it if you like the way your hair comes out normally and you’re not using excessive heat on it.

Oh god the curly girl method really is labour intensive. It’s still less labour for me than styling every day but it’s not for the faint hearted, if I could snap my fingers and have straight hair I wouldn’t think twice.

I’ve seen videos of the Dyson airwrap and it looks wild to me. The sections of hair I see people grabbing in videos seem so small to me and I have a pretty thick head of hair. But, hey, maybe one day I’ll buy it just to try it and realize I should’ve done it sooner.

If you want to spend that much money at Ulta to achieve a certain status, maybe skincare products are the way to go right now. I am wearing less make-up these days, but have been trying to up my skincare game.

@Copa, it’s about the same size section you’d take if you were curling your hair, and the same amount of time (10 seconds, then a 5-second cool shot if you want). But it dries it too. So it’s a big time savings over drying AND styling. Nothing’s as fast as the Revlon, but this was pretty quick.

@Copa Yes, I was thinking that same thing! Now that I’m (gulp) 38 freaking years old, I was thinking of getting a retinol serum or something more concentrated. I’ve always used moisturizer with sunblock, wash all my makeup off at night, use an eye cream and a night moisturizer, and stay out of the sun, but maybe I need more.

Randomly, but this weekend I discovered White House Black Market and I’m in love. They have these gorgeous like, military-styled jackets that are really adorable. Maybe in the spring I’ll be able to wear them while performing comedy outside. It’s getting too cold now. 🙁

Yes, get a retinol serum. You don’t have to pay a ton, you can get neutrogena or the ordinary. That’s for night. For day, you need a vitamin C serum. Also pick up an AHA or glycolic product for exfoliating. Paula’s Choice has a good one. Use in the morning, as it shouldn’t mix with retinol.

This is all in addition to what you’re using now. These are the basics of anti-aging skin care.

    It’s never too late.

If I could be a voice of the future, also, I’d urge everyone to start using a separate SPF 50 every day. I never did. My skin looks good, but there is sun damage. Obviously some of that is from being a kid in the times before people were careful about sunscreen, but as soon as you start using a serious SPF every day, you’re preventing future damage.
